Equipment Manager Reports To: Director of Agronomy Supervises: Equipment Technician Classification: Full-Time, Exempt Education and Experience Minimum 18 years of age. Graduate of a vocational, technical, or post-secondary program in small engine repair, diesel technology, automotive technology, agricultural mechanics, or a related field preferred. Five (5) or more years of progressive golf course equipment maintenance experience. Previous experience as an Equipment Manager, Lead Mechanic, or similar leadership role preferred. Advanced experience maintaining golf course maintenance equipment, utility vehicles, construction equipment, and irrigation support equipment. Welding and fabrication experience preferred. Experience with computerized engine diagnostics, hydraulic systems, and electrical troubleshooting. The Equipment Manager is expected to demonstrate: Advanced knowledge of golf course maintenance equipment and repair techniques. Strong diagnostic abilities involving diesel, gasoline, hydraulic, electrical, and computerized systems. Expertise in reel grinding, bedknife maintenance, and cutting unit setup. Strong organizational and time management skills. Leadership, mentoring, and employee development skills. Excellent verbal and written communication. Job Summary (Essential Functions) The Equipment Manager is responsible for the maintenance, repair, preventative maintenance, and long-term management of the Club’s golf course equipment fleet. This position oversees the daily operation of the equipment maintenance facility while ensuring all equipment is maintained in a safe, reliable, and championship-ready condition. The Equipment Manager works closely with the Director of Agronomy and Assistant Superintendents to support daily operations, protect the Club’s capital investment, and deliver exceptional golf course conditions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for all golf course equipment. Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain gasoline, diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and computerized equipment. Maintain all cutting units, reels, bedknives, rollers, and grooming equipment to championship-quality standards. Perform grinding, backlapping, adjustments, and precision setup of all cutting equipment. Maintain complete service and repair records for the entire equipment fleet. Monitor equipment condition and recommend repair or replacement based on equipment life cycle and operating costs. Maintain inventory of replacement parts, filters, lubricants, tires, batteries, and shop supplies. Coordinate outside vendor repairs and warranty work when appropriate. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance facility. Train, mentor, and supervise Assistant Equipment Managers and equipment technicians. Assist in preparing annual operating and capital equipment budgets. Develop and maintain a five-year fleet replacement plan. Perform welding, fabrication, machining, and custom equipment modifications as needed. Respond promptly to equipment failures occurring during daily operations. Maintain compliance with all OSHA safety standards and shop safety procedures. Participate in department meetings and contribute to operational planning. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Agronomy.
