Job Description

The Golf Course Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and servicing the equipment used to keep our golf courses in exceptional playing condition.

This hands-on position plays a vital role in daily golf course operations. The successful candidate will help ensure that mowers, utility vehicles, tractors, and other turf maintenance equipment are safe, reliable, and ready for use.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, dependable, and eager to continue learning. We welcome experienced mechanics as well as motivated individuals who have a solid mechanical foundation and want to develop their skills in the golf course industry.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform routine preventative maintenance on golf course and turf maintenance equipment.

- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine-related issues.

- Repair and maintain reel mowers, rotary mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, and other grounds equipment.

- Perform oil changes, lubrication, filter replacements, blade sharpening, and other scheduled maintenance.

- Maintain and adjust cutting units to support quality turf conditions and consistent playing surfaces.

- Troubleshoot equipment issues and complete repairs efficiently to minimize downtime.

- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe workshop and equipment storage area.

- Track maintenance schedules, repairs, parts, and equipment service records.

- Assist with equipment inspections and prepare machinery for seasonal demands.

- Work with golf course superintendents and maintenance teams to prioritize equipment needs.

- Follow all safety procedures and manufacturer recommendations.

- Continue developing technical knowledge and mechanical skills through hands-on experience and training.

Qualifications

We're looking for someone who has:

- Mechanical aptitude and a strong interest in equipment maintenance and repair.

- Experience with small engines, diesel engines, turf equipment, automotive repair, or heavy equipment preferred.

- Basic knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, or a willingness to learn.

- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

- A dependable work ethic and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.

- A commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and keeping equipment in excellent working condition.

- A valid driver's license required.

Golf course equipment experience is a plus, but we're also interested in candidates with transferable mechanical skills who are eager to learn. The right attitude, willingness to grow, and pride in your work matter.

Compensation: Pay Based on Experience

Acumen Golf recognizes that every mechanic brings a different level of knowledge and experience. We offer a competitive pay structure that reflects your qualifications, technical ability, and potential.

- Entry-Level / Mechanically Inclined: $20–$22 per hour

- Developing Mechanic / Some Relevant Experience: $22–$25 per hour

- Experienced Golf Course or Turf Equipment Mechanic: $25–$28 per hour

- Highly Skilled / Advanced Diagnostic Experience: $28–$30+ per hour

Final compensation will be determined by experience, technical skills, certifications, and overall qualifications.
