About the role

General Manager / Head Golf Professional – ZenOaks Golf Club

ZenOaks Golf Club

Ridge Manor, FL

Job type: Full-time, salaried/exempt

Reports to Ownership

Pay: $60,000 – $70,000 base salary, depending on experience, plus a performance incentive (target total compensation $75,000 – $90,000)

Position Summary

ZenOaks Golf Club is seeking a hands-on General Manager / Head Golf Professional to lead the daily operation and growth of the property. This role is directly responsible for the customer-facing business: the traditional golf operation, The Ridge at ZenOaks short course, the food trailer operation, beer and wine, retail, events, staffing, revenue growth, expense control, and property-level financial performance.

This is not a desk-only GM position. The successful candidate will be visible with customers, comfortable working alongside the team, knowledgeable about golf operations, able to manage food-and-beverage employees, and capable of running the property as a commercial business.

Primary Responsibilities

Golf Operations

Own daily golf operations, tee-sheet management, utilization, pricing, and pace of play

Manage starter, golf shop, outside service, leagues, memberships, outings, tournaments, and events

Establish and enforce golf policies, customer-service standards, and rain-check and cancellation procedures

Oversee golf staffing, scheduling, training, and accountability

Develop programs that increase rounds, revenue per golfer, and repeat visits

The Ridge at ZenOaks

Operate The Ridge as a distinct, revenue-producing short-course experience

Manage check-in, pricing, tee-time capacity, replay strategy, leagues, group events, and night golf when available

Coordinate customer flow, safety, and pace of play between The Ridge, the food operation, and the social areas

Develop promotions and events that make The Ridge a destination

Food & Beverage

Hold overall P&L accountability for Tap In Tavern and the beer-and-wine operation

Manage menu pricing, food and beverage cost, labor, inventory, waste, purchasing, and vendors

Maintain cleanliness, food safety, alcohol-service procedures, and guest-service standards

Drive golf-to-F&B conversion and create a natural post-round experience

Revenue & Marketing Execution

Partner with the portfolio marketing team to turn campaigns into property-level revenue

Drive membership sales, outings, leagues, corporate events, youth programs, local partnerships, and promotions

Grow the customer database and feed customer insights back to marketing

Support The Ridge, Tap In Tavern, and ZenOaks branded merchandise and local activation

Retail / Merchandise

Manage focused retail programs for ZenOaks, The Ridge, and Tap In Tavern

Control inventory, pricing, margins, shrinkage, and seasonal merchandise

Keep high-turn essentials (balls, gloves, tees) in stock

People & Leadership

Hire, schedule, train, coach, and manage all customer-facing staff

Control labor while maintaining strong service standards

Build a team that solves routine operational problems without unnecessary escalation to ownership

Superintendent Relationship

The Superintendent owns agronomy and maintenance (turf, irrigation, chemicals, equipment, grounds staff, course conditioning). The GM owns customer experience, golf operations, revenue, the tee sheet, F&B, retail, events, customer-facing staff, and the property P&L. The two operate as close counterparts.

Financial Accountability

The GM isn't expected to be the bookkeeper but is expected to own the operating result. Working with ownership and the CFO, the GM routinely reviews daily sales, rounds, utilization and revenue per round; The Ridge utilization and revenue; F&B and retail sales and attachment rates; labor %, food and beverage cost, inventory, discounts, comps, and refunds; and budget vs. actual and the monthly P&L.

Key Performance Indicators: property revenue growth; EBITDA/operating profit; golf rounds and utilization; The Ridge utilization; revenue per golfer (golf + F&B + retail); labor %; F&B cost; customer reviews; events/outings revenue; membership/pass growth and retention.

Qualifications

5+ years of golf operations experience preferred

Previous Head Golf Professional, Director of Golf, Assistant GM, or GM experience preferred

Demonstrated staff-management and customer-service experience

Working knowledge of tee-sheet/POS systems, tournaments, events, and retail merchandising

Comfortable managing food-and-beverage operations and labor

Strong commercial and P&L understanding

PGA membership preferred, but not required for an exceptional operator with strong golf credibility and management experience

Compensation

Base salary: $60,000 – $70,000, depending on experience

Incentive: 10% – 20% of base, tied to property EBITDA/budget performance, revenue growth, The Ridge/F&B performance, and customer/staff operating standards

A defined lesson-income arrangement may also be offered, provided instruction does not interfere with GM responsibilities
