REPORTS TO: Assistant Manager WAGE CLASS: Part Time
Position Summary: The Valet is responsible for providing a welcoming, safe, and efficient vehicle parking and retrieval service for members and guests of Baltusrol Golf Club. Valets are often the first and last point of contact for guests and are expected to deliver a consistently high level of professionalism, courtesy, and attentiveness while prioritizing safety and the overall member experience.
About the Club: Founded in 1895, just minutes from New York City in northern New Jersey, Baltusrol Golf Cub remains true to its founder Louis Keller’s bold vision to create a world class golf club befitting America’s leading city. Baltusrol’s two championship golf courses, both ranked among the top 100 in American by several major publications, have played distinguished roles on the national golf stage since their creation by architect A.W. Tillinghast. The Club has hosted 19 major championships in its history and will again welcome the world’s best golfers when it hosts the 2029 PGA Championship. In 2014, Baltusrol was designated a National Historic Landmark in recognition of its legacy in American golf. Over the course of its 130-year history, Baltusrol has also distinguished itself as an international leader in hospitality. In 2019, the clubhouse at Baltusrol was recognized as one of the greatest classic clubhouses in America by Golf Digest. Essential Functions:
Greet all members and guests promptly and courteously upon arrival and departure, creating a positive first and last impression of the Club.
·Greet guests with a warm welcome and using member recognition
· Practice three steps of service - warm welcome, friendly compliance and fond farewell.
· Safely park and retrieve member and guest vehicles while adhering to all campus speed limits and safety standards.
Assists members and guests with luggage.
Helps members and guests in and out of automobiles; opens lobby doors.
Issues and collects automobile claim tickets.
Maintains clean and safe entrances and parking lots.
Directs members and guests to desired room.
· Open vehicle doors for arriving guests, prioritizing passengers, and assist with opening clubhouse doors when staffing allows.
· Ensure at least one valet remains stationed at the front circle at all times.
· Stage vehicles
· Maintain cleanliness and organization of the valet podium, front circle, and surrounding areas.
· Communicate effectively with fellow valets and management.
· Demonstrate urgency when retrieving vehicles while exercising extreme caution when driving.
· Immediately report missing keys, vehicle damage, accidents, or guest safety concerns to a manager or supervisor.
· Follow all valet department rules, best practices, safety guidelines, and service standards.
Intellectual Demands:
Effective member/guest interaction skills.
Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.
· Strong customer service skills with the ability to remain professional and composed in high-volume or high-pressure situations.
· Reliable, punctual, and flexible with scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and special events.
· Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
Prior customer service experience preferred.
Prior valet experience is a plus.
Licenses and Special Requirements
Valid driver’s license
No moving violations or minor incidents within the past three years and no major incidents (e.g., DUI) within the past five years
Able to operate a manual transmission vehicle preferred
Physical and Environment Demands:
· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
· Ability to run short distances when retrieving vehicles.
· Ability to bend, reach, and lift necessary valet equipment and supplies.
· Ability to safely enter, operate, and exit a wide variety of vehicles.
Required to push, pull, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds – Frequently
Job Type: Part Time
Pay: $16.00 – $17.00 per hour
