About the Role
The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for the daily setup, input, monitoring of pests, and supervision of golf maintenance employees. The Superintendent directly influences the playing area and gardens which directly drives the success of the organization
Reports to: General Manager
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
1. Course Maintenance and Management
• Oversee the maintenance of turfgrass, trees, landscaping, and other vegetation on the golf course.
• Implement and monitor irrigation systems to ensure proper water management.
• Develop and execute maintenance schedules for mowing, aerating, seeding, fertilizing, and pest control.
• Ensure the course meets or exceeds standards for aesthetics and playability.
2. Staff Supervision and Training
• Recruit, train, and supervise a team of groundskeepers and maintenance staff.
• Assign tasks, set performance expectations, and provide ongoing feedback.
• Foster a safe, efficient, and productive work environment.
3. Equipment and Resource Management
• Maintain and repair all groundskeeping equipment to ensure peak performance.
• Manage inventory and procurement of supplies, including fertilizers, chemicals, and equipment.
4. Budgeting and Financial Oversight
• Develop and manage the annual maintenance budget, including labor, materials, and equipment.
• Monitor expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities.
5. Environmental and Safety Compliance
• Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations regarding chemical applications and environmental impact.
• Promote sustainable practices, including water conservation and wildlife management.
• Maintain a safe work environment and implement safety training programs for staff.
6. Communication
• Work closely with the Ownership to align course maintenance with overall business goals.
• Communicate regularly regarding course conditions and upcoming projects.
Certifications:
• Certification as a Golf Course Superintendent (CGCS) is a plus.
• Pesticide Applicator License or the ability to obtain one.
Compensation:
$105,000-$110,000
Work Conditions:
• Primarily outdoor work, often in varying weather conditions.
• Requires early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and operating machinery are common.
