Golf Course Mechanic / Equipment Manager

Position Summary

Oak Hollow Golf Course is seeking a full-time Golf Course Mechanic / Equipment Manager to oversee the maintenance, repair, and readiness of our golf course maintenance equipment and vehicle fleet. Reporting directly to the Golf Course Superintendent, this position manages a comprehensive preventive maintenance program, diagnoses and repairs equipment, maintains service and parts records, manages shop inventory, and orders necessary parts and supplies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Manage preventive maintenance schedules, service records, fuel records, parts inventories, and shop supplies. Diagnose, repair, and service golf-specific mowing equipment, including greens, tee, fairway, and rough mowers. Maintain and repair trucks, tractors, utility vehicles, backhoes, trenchers, chemical applicators, and handheld equipment such as string trimmers, chainsaws, and blowers. Diagnose and repair gas and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and other mechanical components. Perform detailed reel maintenance and setup for precision cutting, including reel grinding, adjustment, and backlapping. Perform welding and fabrication as needed for equipment repairs and specialty tools. Safely operate repair equipment, hand and power tools, grinders, pumps, motors, and equipment being serviced. Diagnose equipment failures and prioritize repairs to minimize downtime and support daily golf course operations. Maintain accurate records of maintenance, major repairs, parts, and labor for each piece of equipment. Order parts and supplies and maintain appropriate inventory levels. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance shop and properly manage hazardous materials and waste. Assist with staff training on proper equipment operation and daily equipment care. Stay current with industry practices, equipment technology, and maintenance procedures. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge of golf course equipment and vehicle maintenance, operation, and repair. Knowledge of two-cycle and four-cycle engines. Experience with gas and diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, welding/fabrication, and reel mower maintenance preferred. Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to maintain organized equipment, service, parts, and inventory records. Ability to work independently and prioritize repairs based on operational needs. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in conditions that may include heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, grease, chemicals, and fumes. Ability to safely perform the physical duties associated with equipment maintenance and repair, including lifting and moving heavy parts, tools, and equipment. Must be at least 18 years of age. Valid driver's license required.

Previous golf course or commercial turf-equipment maintenance experience is strongly preferred.

This is a full-time position and may require early mornings, weekends, holidays, and additional hours based on golf course operations and equipment needs.
