About the position
The Sanctuary Golf Club, a prestigious member-owned private golf club located on Sanibel Island, FL is accepting resumes for a full-time Seasonal Golf Shop Retail Assistant to work October 2026 through April 2027. Founded in 1992, The Sanctuary and surrounding community encompass 500 acres and is the only private club in the country that lies within a U.S. Wildlife Preserve. The Sanctuary is Audubon International Certified and a five-star rated Platinum Club that has been awarded over 25 accolades from around the world including: Platinum Club of America, Platinum Club of the World - Top 100, The Club of Excellence, Exceptional status by Boardroom Distinguished and 2026 AGM Platinum Golf Shop Best of the Best distinction. The goal of the The Sanctuary's Golf Program is to be the premier golf experience in Southwest Florida for its Members. The Sanctuary Golf Club takes pride in offering unmatched service, impeccably facilitated tournaments, and a state-of-the-art instructional program.
Responsibilities
Assists with general services in the Golf Pro Shop, including but not limited to sales, merchandising, booking tee times, answering phones, assisting with tournaments, and other golf operational duties in support of the Club’s golf operations.Greets and assists Members and Guests in a warm, friendly, and professional manner.Provides excellent customer service including answering phones, making tee times, assisting with Members’ and Guests’ needs.Promotes and sells Golf Shop merchandise.Assists with receiving procedures and reconciliation of payables.Assists with unboxing, tagging, steaming, and prepping merchandise for the floor.Maintains and executes all special orders in a timely manner to ensure top quality Member experience and communicates with Members to advise them of order status.Maintains a well-organized and aesthetically pleasing golf shop environment.Maintains inventory levels on floor and notes any items needing restocked or reordered.Assists with special promotions and sales.Assists with group clinics for PGA Members and PGA Associates.Helps to build and maintain Member databases to track sizes and preferences.Ensures stockrooms are kept clean, organized and up to code.Helps drive sales with created culture through service-driven Member engagement.Responsible for opening/closing procedures of the Golf Shop.Assists with monthly physical inventory counts.Assists with merchandise reporting and analyzing sales trends as needed.Assists with all other duties as assigned by the Merchandise Manager and/or the Director of Golf.Requirements
High School diploma or GED required.Minimum of two years of merchandising and/or retail experience.Demonstrates outstanding professionalism, helpfulness, friendliness and customer service skills.Focus attention on Members’ and Guests’ needs acting professionally and courteously at all times, even when under pressure.Working knowledge of MS Office Suite and ability to use and navigate a POS and related golf industry software.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Nice-to-haves
