About the Role

Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - Prior coaching experience at the high school or competitive youth level. - Valid Florida teaching certificate or valid Department of Education athletic coaching certificate. - Valid FHSAA certification. - Valid Adult and Child First Aid/CPR/AED certificate issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. - Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered. - Valid Florida Driver’s License. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Head coaching experience in the assigned or a closely related sport at the high school level. - Experience mentoring youth and fostering a positive team culture. - Familiarity with academic eligibility requirements for student-athletes. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - Knowledge of the sport’s rules, techniques, and safety practices. - Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills. - Ability to collaborate with school staff, parents, and community partners. - Ability to work evenings, weekends, and during school breaks as needed. Revised: 03/23/2026 Responsibilities ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - Typical duties include but are not limited to: - Plan, organize, and conduct regular practice sessions. - Develop and implement game strategies and tactics. - Teach fundamental skills, techniques, and sports rules to student-athletes. - Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and school-sponsored trips. - Monitor academic progress and support students in balancing athletics and academics. - Promote discipline, responsibility, and good sportsmanship among players. - Ensure compliance with school, district, and state athletic regulations. - Manage and maintain team equipment and uniforms. - Collaborate with the athletic director on scheduling, budget, and facility use. - Maintain open communication with parents and guardians. - Provide mentorship and guidance to student-athletes on personal development and college opportunities. - Enforce all school policies and codes of conduct. - Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
