Role Description The Head Platform Tennis & Pickleball Professional is a full-time, on-site position based at Wilmington Country Club in Wilmington, DE. This role is responsible for overseeing all platform tennis and pickleball operations, including organizing clinics, lessons, leagues, and special events for players of all ages and skill levels. The professional will develop and implement programming that promotes participation, skill development, and sportsmanship, while ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment. Day-to-day tasks include coaching individuals and groups, managing court reservations and equipment, collaborating with the sports and membership teams on schedules and communications, and supervising assistant professionals or seasonal staff. The role also involves maintaining safety and quality standards on the courts, supporting member engagement, and contributing to the overall recreational and social experience at the club.
Qualifications
Demonstrated expertise in platform tennis and pickleball instruction, with the ability to coach players at beginner through advanced levels.Experience designing and managing racquet sports programs, including clinics, leagues, tournaments, and social events.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on member service, relationship building, and inclusive engagement.Proven organizational and leadership abilities, including scheduling, staff oversight, and coordination with other club departments.Knowledge of safety standards, court maintenance basics, and best practices for racquet sports operations in a private club setting.Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on program and member needs.Relevant professional certifications in platform tennis, pickleball, or racquet sports instruction (or willingness to obtain them within a defined timeframe).Previous experience in a private club, resort, or similar hospitality-focused environment is strongly preferred.High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Physical Education, Recreation, or a related field is a plus.
