Overview
Under the direction of the Neshanic Valley Maintenance Manager, is responsible for preventative equipment maintenance program, emergency repairs and daily maintenance of all equipment at Neshanic Valley. Must ensure all equipment is functioning daily as all areas of golf course must be cut to specific heights each day without fail. Performs hands on maintenance work as required. Must ensure equipment is calibrated to exact tolerances to meet high golf course standards and expectations
Duties
• Maintain a preventative and regular maintenance program for the rolling stock assigned to Neshanic Valley golf course and vehicles assigned to Golf Management.
• Train mechanics to inspect, troubleshoot, and diagnose all identified equipment and vehicles used at Neshanic Valley
• Checks and calibrates mower settings to meet precise cutting specifications.
• Participates in developing annual operating and capital budgets for Neshanic Valley fleet operations.
• Assists with developing specifications for Neshanic Valley maintenance rolling stock. Oversees all deliveries of equipment made to Neshanic Valley
• Maintains a complete set of records for equipment and parts inventory, equipment conditions, costs of repairs and preventative maintenance for all equipment.
• Makes emergency repairs outside of shop when necessary.
• Prepare annual performance appraisals for direct report staff.
• Responsible for maintaining lockout tagout program and train staff as needed.
• Solicit quotations and specifications for parts and place orders as required.
• Communicate with other golf course mechanics to share special equipment to maximize use of the same.
• Performs mechanical repairs that require the skill level of a master mechanic.
• Performs reel and bedknife grinding using state of the art machinery and trains other mechanic on same. Backlap when required and/or directed.
• Meets with Neshanic Valley Maintenance Manager on a regular basis to ensure mechanical staff is meeting needs of overall maintenance plan.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Park Commission.
Qualifications
High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and a minimum of 5 years experience as a mechanic preferred. Must have working knowledge of light and heavy construction and maintenance equipment and automotive apparatus and skill in the use of a wide variety of equipment repair tools, and the making of various types of mechanical repairs. Must possess knowledge of theory, care, and operations of internal combustion engines. Must have ability to diagnose mechanical troubles and determine appropriate maintenance work. Must be able to work weekends and holidays if required and report to work for emergency situations. Ability to adjust work schedule as required for the efficient operation of maintenance division. Must have a valid driver’s license. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred
