Internship Dates: January 11th – May 31st

The Colonial Life Charity Classic is accepting applications for the 2027 internship program. Our internships provide a unique opportunity to work as part of a team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment while gaining experience and exposure to professional tournament golf and event management. The Colonial Life Charity Classic will be held May 20-23, 2027, and is managed by Eventive Sports Properties, a Troon Company, which is a nationwide sports management company based in Birmingham, AL.

About the Colonial Life Charity Classic

The Colonial Life Charity Classic (CLCC) is an annual Korn Ferry Tour event held at The Woodcreek Club in Columbia, SC. Following a successful inaugural tournament in 2026, the event is poised for continued growth as it establishes itself as one of the Midlands’ signature annual sporting events.

Each year, the tournament welcomes professional golfers, corporate partners, and thousands of fans from across the region, generating meaningful economic impact while showcasing Columbia on a national stage. At the heart of the tournament is a commitment to the community. More than 350 volunteers help bring the Colonial Life Charity Classic to life each year, creating an unforgettable experience for players, spectators, sponsors, and guests alike.

The tournament proudly benefits United Way of the Midlands, whose mission is to break the cycle of poverty by investing in health, education, financial stability, and essential community resources.

Position Overview

Colonial Life Charity Classic interns will work alongside full-time staff on many aspects of the event. The ideal candidate will possess strong written and oral communication skills, the ability to work independently on multiple projects, and a willingness to go above and beyond for tournament stakeholders. Interns will be asked to take ownership of key projects and will gain strong professional experience.

This internship is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in sports management, sales, marketing, business, hospitality, public relations, graphic design, social media, event management, or related field.

Key Responsibilities Pro-Am Management

- Assist in managing the tournament Pro-Am from registration through event execution.

- Coordinate participant registration, team rosters, handicaps, pairings, and player communications.

- Prepare registration materials, gift packages, credentials, and participant information.

- Support the Pro-Am Pairings Party, registration process, and on-course operations.

- Coordinate with PGA TOUR staff, volunteers, sponsors, and vendors to ensure a seamless participant experience.

- Assist with post-event reporting and participant follow-up.

Special Events

- Support planning and execution of tournament events including sponsor receptions, volunteer appreciation events, hospitality functions, media events, trophy ceremony and the Pro-Am Pairings Party.

- Coordinate event logistics, guest lists, registration, and on-site operations.

- Assist with setup, execution, and post-event breakdown.

Hospitality & Sponsor Fulfillment & Activation

- Assist with fulfilling sponsor benefits and contractual assets.

- Coordinate hospitality experiences for sponsors and VIP guests.

- Support sponsor activations, branding, and on-site hospitality operations.

- Conduct sponsor walkthroughs to ensure all contractual obligations are executed successfully.

- Assist with sponsor relations throughout the tournament week.

Tickets & Credentials Fulfillment

- Coordinate the fulfillment and distribution of tournament tickets, parking passes, credentials, and hospitality wristbands.

- Prepare ticket packages for sponsors, partners, and special guests.

- Maintain accurate credential inventories and distribution records.

- Provide customer service and resolve fulfillment questions before and during tournament week.

General Marketing

- Support execution of tournament marketing campaigns across digital, print, email, and community channels.

- Assist with media materials, promotional initiatives, and event communications.

- Conduct market research and help identify opportunities to increase community awareness and attendance

Social Media

- Assist in planning, creating, and scheduling content across tournament social media platforms.

- Capture photos and videos at community events and tournament activities.

- Monitor engagement and support audience interaction.

- Help execute social media campaigns to increase brand awareness, ticket sales, and community engagement.

Website

- Assist with updating tournament website content, event information, sponsor recognition, and ticketing information.

- Review website content for accuracy and consistency.

- Support digital marketing efforts that drive traffic and ticket purchases.

Graphic Design

- Design marketing materials including social graphics, flyers, email graphics, signage, digital advertisements, and promotional collateral.

- Maintain brand consistency across all marketing assets.

- Assist with sponsor recognition graphics and tournament communications.

Promotions & Community Events

- Represent the tournament at community events, chamber functions, festivals, and partner activations.

- Assist with promotional appearances and grassroots marketing initiatives.

- Coordinate event materials, giveaways, and promotional displays.

- Help build awareness of the tournament throughout the Midlands.

Requirements

- This internship is intended for students seeking academic credit through their college or university

- Must be 18+ years old

- Valid Driver's License

- Reliable vehicle

- Detail-oriented, able to handle multiple projects

- Experience with Microsoft Office and familiarity with Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is preferred, however not required

- Experience with social media platforms and digital marketing is a plus

- Experience with Salesforce is a plus

- Flexibility, punctuality, and willingness to work evenings, long hours, and weekends

- Excellent communication and customer service skills

Internship Details

- Internship timeframe: January 11 – May 31, 2027

- Payment: Hourly

- Housing: Not provided

- Hours: starting at 10-20 hours per week, then increased hours immediately leading up to and during tournament week. Must be able to work extended and irregular hours including nights and weekends as event approaches and during event. Most work hours will be in a typical office environment at Colonial Life Charity Classic’s office. Working outside and on-site during event should be expected.
