About the position
GCSAA is seeking an experienced, collaborative and detail-oriented Managing Editor to lead the editorial production of Golf Course Management (GCM) magazine, the association's flagship publication serving golf course management professionals worldwide. This role oversees the monthly publication process, leads the editorial team and collaborates with writers, designers and internal stakeholders to deliver high-quality print and digital content. The ideal candidate is an exceptional editor, communicator and project manager who thrives in a deadline-driven environment. Success in this role requires strong editorial judgment, organization and the ability to manage multiple priorities while producing timely, accurate and engaging content. The Managing Editor also represents GCM at the annual GCSAA Conference and Trade Show and other industry events, advancing GCSAA's mission through high-quality journalism and compelling storytelling.
Responsibilities
Oversees the monthly publication process of Golf Course Management (GCM) magazine.Leads the editorial team.Collaborates with writers, designers, and internal stakeholders to deliver high-quality print and digital content.Represents GCM at the annual GCSAA Conference and Trade Show and other industry events.Manages publication workflows from concept through final production.Manages magazine, newspaper or other professional publication production, including editorial calendars and production schedules.Requirements
Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills with a strong command of AP Style.Demonstrated editorial judgment and experience managing publication workflows from concept through final production.Proven leadership experience supervising editorial or communications professionals in a deadline-driven environment.Strong project management, organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across teams.Excellent interviewing, storytelling and feature-writing abilities for professional audiences.Experience managing magazine, newspaper or other professional publication production, including editorial calendars and production schedules.Proficiency with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Microsoft Office Suite.Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Mass Communications or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.Five to seven years of professional experience as a journalist, editor or writer, including magazine or newspaper publishing.Ability to travel approximately 10%, including weekends and overnight travel, to attend the GCSAA Conference and Trade Show and other association events.Must reside within a commutable distance of GCSAA headquarters in Lawrence, KS.Benefits
