POSITION PROFILE
The Golf Course Starter is responsible for managing the orderly and timely start of play on the golf course. This position ensures that golfers tee off according to their scheduled times, provides necessary course information, maintains pace of play, and delivers excellent customer service. The starter serves as a key representative of the course and helps ensure a positive experience for all guests.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILTIES
• Greet golfers in a friendly, professional manner.
• Verify tee times and confirm player check-ins.
• Communicate course rules, pace of play expectations, and any daily course conditions (e.g., cart paths only, weather advisories).
• Coordinate and maintain proper spacing between groups to ensure smooth pace of play.
• Monitor the first tee and surrounding areas for safety and flow.
• Keep accurate logs of tee-off times and report delays or issues to golf staff.
• Assist with organizing and launching tournaments and group outings.
• Provide directions and answer golfer questions about the course layout, facilities, and services.
• Ensure golf carts are properly staged and available for players.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization at the starter's station and surrounding areas.
• Enforce club policies and resolve minor player disputes diplomatically.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods, work outdoors in various weather conditions, and lift up to 25-30 pounds.
• Basic knowledge of the game of golf is often required.
• A friendly, courteous, and professional demeanor.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Lift, pull, push, bend, and move items to support the hotel and outlets
• Continuous movement outside on the course and inside the club
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and around noise and fumes.
