OVERVIEW: As a Sushi Cook at Boca West Country Club, you will be responsible for preparing a variety of sushi and sashimi dishes, as well as other Japanese cuisine offerings. You will use your expertise in sushi preparation to create visually appealing and delicious dishes that meet the highest standards of quality and presentation. The ideal candidate will have a passion for sushi, a strong understanding of Japanese culinary techniques, and the ability to work efficiently in a high-pressure environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare and present a variety of sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes with attention to detail and artistic presentation.
Source, select, and ensure the freshness of seafood and other ingredients.
Maintain a clean and organized workstation, adhering to food safety and sanitation standards.
Collaborate with other kitchen staff to create seasonal and specialty sushi menus.
Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in sushi preparation techniques.
Assist in inventory management and ordering of sushi-related ingredients.
Monitor food waste and implement strategies to minimize waste while maximizing quality.
Participate in menu development and suggest innovative sushi offerings based on trends and member feedback.
Ensure a positive dining experience for members and guests through exceptional food quality and presentation.
Adhere to all club policies, procedures, and standards.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and TRAINING:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role in a high-quality restaurant, country club, or similar establishment.
In-depth knowledge of sushi preparation techniques and Japanese cuisine.
A culinary degree or certification in sushi preparation is a plus.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality standards.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Attention to detail and creativity in food presentation.
Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
