Job Summary
This position provides excellent beverage service for members and their guests, abiding by the service standards of the Club. The Bartender position will also be expected to go above and beyond to deliver memorable events, while bringing a high level of energy and professionalism.
Education and/or Experience
Minimum grade 12 education.
Must meet state minimum age requirements for serving alcohol.
One year of bartending experience.
Strong organizational skills to prioritize work activities.
Strong interpersonal skills required.
Current ServSafe certification.
Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations
Stocks bar and completes other pre-opening requirements.
Prepares and serves alcoholic beverages according to standard recipes.
Skilled at slowing and refusing alcoholic beverage service when necessary.
Complies with basic safety and sanitation requirements.
Good organizational skills.
Experience with POS systems required; familiarity with club-based or hospitality systems strongly preferred.
Knowledgeable of all aspects of department and daily club operations, including events and operating hours.
Ability to read and understand Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
Ability to work large or small events with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
Cleans bar and completes other pre-closing requirements.
Assures that all state and local laws and club policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages are consistently followed.
Knowledgeable about the food menu(s) and is able to sell and serve food in a bar setting.
Engages with members and guests in a friendly, attentive, and professional manner to create a welcoming environment.
Proactively recommends beverages, wine pairings, and food items to enhance the guest experience.
ServSafe Alcohol, TIPS, or other recognized alcohol service certification preferred.
Communicates effectively with servers, kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth service.
Job Tasks/Duties
Inspects the bar prior to opening to ensure that adequate supplies are available.
Requests additional supplies as necessary and stocks the bar.
Follows set-up procedures.
Prepares garnishes, fruits mixes and pre-mixed drinks prior to opening bar.
Mixes, prepares and serves drinks to members and guests and mixes and prepares drinks ordered by food and beverage servers according to approved standard recipes.
Maintains and cleans bar area and equipment.
Maintains records of liquors, beers and wine to ensure bar stock is maintained at all times.
Carefully follows all laws and club policies and procedures regarding alcoholic beverage service and informs manager if continued service to a member or guest is in question.
Continually practices beverage and revenue control procedures.
Works well with the team and contributes positively to the culture.
Participates in regular training on mixology, club standards, and safety protocols.
Physical Requirement and Work Environment
Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.
Push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds.
Continuous repetitive motions.
Ability to work in varying environmental conditions.
