About the role

AGAWAM HUNT HEAD GOLF PROFESSIONAL

Rumford, Rhode Island

Agawam Hunt, established in 1897 and one of the early associate members of the United States Golf Association (USGA), is seeking an experienced, motivated, and personable PGA Class A Professional to serve as its next Head Golf Professional.

Located in Rumford, Rhode Island, just outside Providence, Agawam Hunt traces its roots to the late 19th century, when it was founded as a traditional hunt club centered on equestrian pursuits and fox hunting. As golf gained popularity around the turn of the century, the Club evolved from the hunt field to the fairways, establishing a golfing tradition that continues today.

Willie Park Jr. designed the Club's original nine-hole course in 1895, followed by an 18-hole design by Donald Ross in 1920. Over the decades, the course has continued to evolve, including notable renovations by renowned golf course architect Geoffrey Cornish in the 1960s.

More recently, the Club has worked with golf course architect Ian Andrews on course maintenance and improvement initiatives, with an emphasis on preserving its historic character while enhancing playing conditions.

Today, Agawam Hunt's par-69 course honors this distinguished heritage while providing an exceptional golf experience. Beyond golf, the Club offers an extensive and active racquets program featuring 10 grass tennis courts, four clay courts, two indoor hard courts, two heated platform tennis courts, and three squash courts. A classic clubhouse, swimming pool, popular summer camp program, and vibrant calendar of social activities round out the experience, making Agawam Hunt a welcoming, year-round sporting and social community.
