Job Type: Part-Time, Seasonal
Compensation: $25 - $27 per hour DOE
Position Summary
We are seeking a professional and detail-oriented Banquet Captain to support the successful execution of outdoor club events during our clubhouse renovation period. This role will oversee Food & Beverage event staff and ensure events are executed according to the Banquet Event Order (BEO), timeline, and club service standards.
This position plays an important leadership role in maintaining high-quality member experience while operating in temporary event spaces. The Banquet Captain will assist with racquets and golf events, member programming, pool parties, and one-off private events, ensuring all logistics, service, and details are executed smoothly.
As we transition back into the clubhouse (anticipated November), this role has the potential to grow in responsibility and help support expanded banquet operations and staffing.
Key Responsibilities
Event Leadership & Execution
Review and interpret Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) to understand event details, timelines, layouts, and service style
Lead on-site event execution in outdoor and temporary event spaces
Oversee Food & Beverage service staff during events to ensure smooth and efficient service
Serve as the main point of contact for staff during functions
Ensure event timelines are followed and service flows appropriately
Assist with coordinating logistics for racquets events, golf events, member programming, pool parties, and private functions
Service Oversight
Ensure food and beverage service meets club standards for presentation and hospitality
Assist with directing staff in buffet service, bar service, and casual event formats
Monitor guest experience and proactively address service needs
Communicate with culinary and bar teams to ensure proper pacing of service
Assist with service as needed, including running food, clearing, and supporting staff
Team Supervision
Provide direction and leadership to Food & Beverage event staff
Assist with assigning responsibilities and ensuring staff understand expectations
Maintain professional service standards and appearance of team members
Event Setup & Logistics Support
Assist with event setup and breakdown, ensuring spaces align with BEO specifications
Confirm event layouts, tables, buffets, bars, and service stations are properly arranged
Support logistical needs for outdoor events including tented spaces, patio events, and poolside functions
Ensure equipment and event materials are organized and properly stored following events
Quality & Detail Management
Maintain strong attention to detail to ensure event accuracy and consistency
Troubleshoot last-minute adjustments or logistical changes
Help ensure all events meet club standards despite temporary operational spaces
Follow safety standards and proper equipment handling procedures

Requirements:
Previous banquet, hospitality, or Food & Beverage experience preferred
Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred
Ability to read and interpret Banquet Event Orders (BEOs)
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Professional and guest-focused mindset
Ability to multitask and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment
Comfortable working in outdoor event environments
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move event equipment as needed
Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays

This role offers the opportunity to grow with the club as we transition back into the newly renovated clubhouse. Additional banquet staff will be hired as operations expand, creating opportunities for leadership development and increased responsibility within the event team.
