Golf Course Superintendent
Country Club in Bartlesville, Oklahoma is looking for a Golf Course Superintendent.
Position Overview:
Responsible for the successful maintenance of the entire golf course, clubhouse grounds, irrigation equipment and maintenance vehicles, as well as the hiring, managing, and training of the staff.
Responsible for, but not limited to:
• The individual will report directly to the General Manager and work closely with the Head Golf Professional and attend all Greens & Grounds Committee and Board Meetings.
• Develop and implement agronomic programs in accordance with the budget.
• Hiring, training and supervising team members.
• Train, implement procedures, conduct performance evaluations, and provide appropriate feedback to golf course maintenance team.
• Purchasing of all maintenance materials and supplies.
• Communicate effectively and thoroughly with the General Manager, Board of Directors, Members and Team Members.
• Perform chemical and fertilizer applications as well as weed and pest control programs for turf grass and plant care.
• Must have pesticide applicators license and assure the proper application of chemicals.
• Must stay up on local pesticide laws as well as Oklahoma labor laws.
• Ability to analyze and solve problems, efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision and work flexible hours including weekends and holidays as needed.
• Directly supervises the repair and maintenance of all golf course equipment and ordering of parts.
• Any other tasks associated with the care and preservation of the golf course and grounds.
Requirements:
He/she must possess the following skills:
Turf management degree preferred (2 to 4 years minimum experience as a Head Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent).
Have a very good understanding of native Oklahoma turfgrass as well as invasive weeds, fungi, insects, or any other factor that might impact effective turf growth in Oklahoma.
Degree or Certificate from accredited college or university.
Experience as a Head Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Golf Course Superintendent.
Experience managing bentgrass greens in the transition zone.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Compensation:
$85,000 – $100,000 per year.
