Purpose of Job
The purpose of this classification is responsible for the operation of Golf Pro Shop, including greeting customers, providing customer service, customer check-in, answering telephones, handling tee sheets and tournaments, overseeing pro shop inventory and merchandising, managing golf software, and ensuring high-quality member/guest experience
Essential Functions
This role requires a dedicated individual who is committed to the success of the golf course and the satisfaction of its players. The Golf Pro Shop Lead Assistant is responsible for the following essential functions:
Schedules golf play; tournaments; enforcement of golf rules and regulations; polices of the course to regulate play and conduct of players
Performs a variety of administrative, management and professional duties in the management of all aspects of an eighteen-hole golf course under the direction of the Golf Course Manager.
Schedules golf pays; tournaments; enforcement of golf rules and regulations; polices of the course to regulate play and conduct of playersSells Pro Shop merchandise.
Operates tee time booking computer system, assigns tee times, and starts groups in orderly manner.
Opens, closes and secures Pro Shop at end of each shift.
Keeps shelves stocked and tidy.
Advises merchandise ordering/equipment ordering.
Opens and closes cash register, cashes out daily income, makes daily deposits in drop safe.
Keeps work areas clean throughout shop and cleans rest rooms.
Assist all customers as necessary.
Additional Job Functions
Ensure regular, punctual attendance during scheduled work hours
Respond to and report immediately if called upon by local, regional or central office supervisors, as part of a coordinated emergency response by the Knox County Mayor’s Office
Perform other duties as required
Minimum Training & Qualifications
High School diploma or GED required.
At least two years’ golf shop experience is preferred.
Previous cash register and deposit experience helpful.
Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered for employment into the position
Specialized Knowledge
Proven experience in golf course management or similar administrative roles.
Strong knowledge of golf rules and regulations.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
A passion for golf and enhancing the player experience.
Competencies
Basic understanding of computers, printers and other office equipment
Ability to focus and demonstrate great attention to detail
Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team
Excellent customer service skills
Excellent communicator and active listener
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to engage in occasional light physical activity (<20lbs).
