Overview
This position performs difficult technical work supervising the maintenance and development of our municipal golf course. The position is expected to ensure players experience a course and practice areas with excellent playing conditions and exceptional turf management. This position reports to the General Manager of Golf Operations.
Experience Required
Bachelor's degree in golf course turf management, Horticulture or Agronomy with a Turf Grass Major or equivalent; and considerable experience in the maintenance of golf courses, with at least two (2) years supervisory experience in course maintenance Certified pesticides licenses from the Department of Agriculture Valid Driver License
Essential Responsibilities
Plan, assign, schedule, and manage the municipal golf course maintenance and vehicle maintenance operations Supervise and train staff on irrigation and drainage controls, watering and pond maintenance, wells, pumps, and automatic controls Manage the application of insecticides, herbicides, and fungicides to the course Ensure all types of turf grass are properly planted, fertilized, and maintained Inspect the course daily and schedule the maintenance work needed Ensure the course is clean, aesthetically attractive, and presentable at all times This list is not exhaustive and is just meant to be an approximate representation of the core responsibilities.
