We are currently seeking a skilled and dependable Golf Course Mechanic to join our grounds maintenance team. This is a hands-on, critical role responsible for the repair, preventive maintenance, and precision sharpening of all golf course equipment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Inspect, diagnose, and repair all golf course equipment including riding mowers, walk-behind mowers, fairway units, rough mowers, sprayers, utility vehicles, and tractors
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, lubrication, belt and blade inspections) on all equipment
Sharpen, grind, and backlap reel mowers to maintain precise cutting quality for greens, tees, fairways, and approaches
Set and adjust bedknife-to-reel tolerances to manufacturer specifications using precision measurement tools
Diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems across a variety of turf and grounds equipment
Weld and fabricate parts or structural components as needed
Maintain detailed maintenance records, parts inventories, and repair logs
Manage parts ordering, vendor relationships, and equipment warranty documentation
Keep the maintenance shop clean, safe, and well-organized at all times
Coordinate with the Superintendent to prioritize equipment readiness around daily operations and seasonal demands
Assist with irrigation system repairs and other grounds maintenance duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 2–3 years of experience in turf equipment repair and maintenance, preferably in a golf course or sports turf environment
Demonstrated knowledge of small engine, diesel, gasoline, and electric equipment systems
Proficiency in reel grinding, bedknife adjustment, and cutting unit setup
Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, wiring schematics, and hydraulic diagrams
Strong mechanical aptitude with solid troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Ability to work independently and manage priorities with minimal supervision
Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate’s degree or vocational/technical certification in Small Engine Technology, Diesel Mechanics, or a related field
GCSAA (Golf Course Superintendents Association of America) certification or equivalent
Experience with Toro, John Deere, Jacobsen, and other turf equipment brands
Familiarity with GPS-based and computerized irrigation control systems
MIG/TIG welding certification or demonstrated experience
Prior experience managing a parts and equipment inventory system
SCHEDULE & WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a full-time, year-round position. Early morning start times are standard in golf course operations, with typical shifts beginning before dawn during the golf season. Weekend and holiday availability is required during peak season. The role is based primarily in our on-site equipment maintenance shop, with regular work throughout the course property.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Annual salary: $60,000 – $80,000, depending on experience and qualifications
