About the Role
About the role As a Greenkeeper Intern at Spyglass Hill Golf Course, you will work under the supervision of the golf course superintendent or assistant superintendent. You will handle routine manual labor and semi-skilled grounds construction. This is an on-site, full-time position. You may be assigned responsibility for the care and maintenance of several designated holes on the course. Because the resort operates seven days a week, your schedule may include weekends and holidays.
What you'll do
Operate mowers, string trimmers, and utility vehicles. Edge cart paths and maintain sand bunkers by raking and edging. Set tee markers and cups on greens daily. Maintain ball washers and replace flags and tee towels. Remove debris and sand or seed divots in tee and drop areas. Clean flower beds, dune areas, and forested sites. Maintain fluid and fuel levels for equipment and report any mechanical issues. Clean maintenance areas and wash pads after returning equipment. Assist with project work, including grading soil, laying sod, and seeding fairways, greens, and tees. Excavate and backfill trenches and ditches using hand tools. Repair greens using grass plugs or seed.
What you'll need
Current enrollment in a two or four year Turfgrass Management degree, certificate program, or a related field. A valid driver's license with 2 points or less. A willingness to learn and grow your current skill set. General knowledge of golf turf fundamentals and golf terminology. Prior experience in sports turf or golf course maintenance is preferred. A golf background is preferred.
