About the Role
Sleepy Hollow Country Club is seeking a motivated, service-driven First Assistant Golf Professional to join one of the most prestigious golf operations in the country. This is a 12-month position designed for a rising PGA Professional who is 2–3 years away from Head Golf Professional readiness and is eager to gain well-rounded, high-level experience in a traditional, high-touch private club environment.
This role offers a comprehensive development opportunity across all facets of golf operations, including member services, tournament execution, merchandising, instruction, and team leadership.

Position Responsibilities
The First Assistant Golf Professional will play a key leadership role within the golf operation and will be involved in all day-to-day activities, including
Member & Guest Experience
• Deliver exceptional service aligned with the club’s high standards
• Build strong relationships with members and guests
• Support daily golf operations, including tee sheet management and pace of play
Tournament Operations
• Plan, organize, and execute a full calendar of events
• Utilize tournament software and scoring systems
• Assist in member communications and event promotion
Instruction & Player Development
• Provide individual and group instruction
• Leverage the club’s indoor teaching facility for year-round programming
• Support junior golf and player development initiative
• Assist with buying, merchandising, and inventory management
• Maintain a high-end retail presentation consistent with the club’s brand
Leadership & Staff Development
• Supervise and mentor Assistant Professionals and staff
• Coordinate with caddie program and outside operations
• Contribute to a positive, team-oriented culture
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a passionate, career-driven professional who thrives in a traditional, high-expectation club environment
Qualifications
• Class A PGA Professional (required)
• 3–6+ years of progressive experience in a private club environment
• Strong foundation in all areas of golf operations
• Demonstrated leadership and team development skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• High attention to detail and organizational skills
Preferred Attributes
• Desire to become a Head Golf Professional within 2–3 years
• Experience at a high-end, traditional or top-ranked facility
• Passion for the history and traditions of the game
