Data Engineering & Architecture Manager

Heritage Golf Group is looking for a Data Engineer to help support our growing data, reporting, and business system needs across our clubs.

The Data Engineering & Architecture Manager will own the strategy, development, and management of the company’s enterprise data environment. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on data engineering to build scalable data architecture, pipelines, integrations, and governance practices that deliver reliable and accessible data across the organization. Working closely with business and technology partners, this individual will translate business needs into data solutions that improve reporting, analytics, automation, and decision-making.

Responsibilities

Data Architecture & Modeling Strategy

Develop recommendations on optimized state of data models, data warehouse, and semantic layers and own the long-term strategy and solution (including refinements and iterations)Lead data architecture planning, technology evaluations, and platform enhancementsDevelop and maintain SQL queries, data models, and Microsoft Fabric assets including Lakehouses, Warehouses, Dataflows, and Semantic ModelsSupport the development of scalable data structures for reporting and analytics

Data Governance & Security

Develop and maintain data governance standards, data definitions, and master data managementCreate documentation, SOPs, and knowledge base articles so processes are easy to followEnsure data security, access controls, and compliance with company policies

Data pipeline and integration development and maintenance

Design, build, and maintain automated data pipelines and integrations that support enterprise reporting and analyticsImplement real-time and batch data processing solutionsDevelop ETL/ELT processes to collect, transform, and load data for reporting and analytics using tools such as DBT, Databricks, or similar platformsCreate and maintain APIs and data services to facilitate data access across applications and business functions, including working with 3rd parties to establish and maintain data connections

Performance Optimization

Optimize query execution, database performance, and reporting efficiencyIdentify opportunities to automate manual processes (e.g., data feeds, reporting)

Monitoring & Reliability

Monitor and maintain data quality, data governance/documentation, and system integrations and identify issues, to ensure accuracy, reliability, and scalabilityDevelop alerts, validation checks, and automated monitoring processes

Business partner

Partner with business stakeholders (e.g., Finance, Operations, Marketing, Clubs) to translate data and reporting needs into data solutions that support operational and strategic decision-making

Other activities

Support business applications, user access, and system data where it ties into reporting and operationsHelp with user questions, ticket triage, and troubleshooting when it relates to areas of responsibility

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in data engineering or a similar roleDemonstrates previous ownership and thought leadership in data governance, architecture strategy and developmentDemonstrates previous experience in development and maintaining data warehouses and data lakes, including data pipeline from internal and external sourcesExperience in working with 3rd parties to establish and maintain data connectionsExperience building, maintaining, or supporting reports and dashboardsExperience working in complex multi-unit businessesStrong communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and non-technical colleaguesMicrosoft Fabric, DBT, Azure, SnowflakePower BICoding languages such as SQL, Python, Spark, and cloud-native data services
