About the role
Internship Opportunity at Morris County Golf ClubMorris County Golf Club is seeking a motivated intern for 2027 as we prepare for the next phase of our golf course improvement plan! Installation of a new Toro two-wire irrigation system is scheduled to begin in July 2027, followed by reconstruction of four green complexes and adjustments to multiple tees beginning in November. This is an exciting opportunity to learn how daily course management, project planning, and construction come together at a private club.
Our goal is to provide more than a summer on the crew. You will have a dedicated desk alongside the superintendent and assistant superintendents and participate in morning planning discussions. An intern can expect hands-on experience with fertilizer and plant-protectant applications, mowing practices, course setup, tournament preparation, cultural practices, moisture management, irrigation, and crew leadership. We place particular emphasis on the responsibilities behind the work: setting priorities, coordinating people and resources, communicating expectations, and following through.
The upcoming season will also provide opportunities to work with two GPS-enabled spray units scheduled to arrive in March 2027, TurfRad moisture-mapping technology, and Toro Lynx Pro Spatial Adjust. Alongside daily maintenance, interns can gain exposure to irrigation planning and early installation work. Candidates who remain into the fall may participate in greens reconstruction and subsequent grow-in, depending on employment dates and the construction schedule.
Every season, we tailor the internship to the individual's interests, experience, and career goals. Whether you want to strengthen your agronomic skills, develop confidence leading a crew, or better understand project management, we will provide guidance, honest feedback, and opportunities to take on responsibility. Graduating students are encouraged to apply; a successful internship may lead to a full-time second assistant position and continued involvement in construction, grow-in, and future improvements.
Job BenefitsOn-property housing in shared, multi-room homes. Meals. Uniforms. Golfing opportunities. At least one guaranteed full day off each weekend. Individualized learning opportunities and participation in management planning. Potential pathway to a full-time second assistant position following a successful internship.
Job RequirementsNo previous experience required! We are looking for someone who is curious, dependable, willing to work, and interested in learning both how and why we make course-management decisions. Educational Requirements Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a turfgrass-related program. Graduating students interested in a longer-term opportunity are encouraged to apply.
