Biltmore Forest Country Club is seeking an Equipment Manager II to join our agronomy team in Asheville, North Carolina. This position is open due to the retirement of a respected team member after 45 years of service to the Club. This is an outstanding opportunity for a motivated equipment professional to work alongside and report directly to the Lead Equipment Manager while supporting a high-performing golf course maintenance operation. The Equipment Manager II plays a critical role in maintaining the Club’s fleet and ensuring championship-level course conditions through safe, reliable, and efficient equipment performance. Club Highlights: Total Annual Rounds: 24,000 (no outings) Total Staff: 11 Full-Time, 14 Seasonal Typical Work Schedule: In-Season: Monday–Friday + every other Saturday (45–50 hours/week) Out-of-Season: 4 days/week, 9 hours/day Turf Types: Greens – A1 Bentgrass Tees & Fairways – Zeon Zoysia Rough – Turf-Type Tall Fescue Equipment Fleet: Toro (leased) Success Traits of the Individual: Organized and maintains a clean workspace Honest, dependable, and trustworthy Positive attitude with strong team mentality Willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done Strong communicator Excellent interpersonal skills High energy and professional self-presentation Desire to continually learn and improve Initial Priorities of the Position: Become fully familiar with the current operation and the Lead Equipment Manager Develop an understanding of staff workflow and equipment usage Evaluate maintenance systems and documentation procedures Set clear goals for maintaining equipment standards that directly impact course performance Key Responsibilities, Knowledge, Skills, and Aptitude: Equipment Maintenance & Repair Perform routine maintenance on turf equipment including mowers, sprayers, aerators, and utility vehicles Diagnose and repair mechanical issues including engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems Maintain preventative maintenance schedules and accurate service records Equipment Operations Support Safely operate turf equipment when needed Assist with daily equipment setup and breakdown Inventory & Shop Management Manage parts and supply inventory Order parts as needed and maintain organized storage systems Maintain a clean, safe, and professional shop environment Safety & Team Collaboration Adhere to all safety protocols Promote a culture of safety among team members Collaborate with agronomy leadership to align equipment readiness with course maintenance schedules Assist in training staff on proper equipment usage Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Ability to work long hours and multiple days as necessary Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions Capable of standing, walking, and bending for extended periods Preferred Qualifications: High School Diploma, Certificate, or Associate Degree (Preferred) Will consider experience in lieu of formal education Strong mechanical aptitude Experience working with turf equipment (Toro preferred) Knowledge of preventative maintenance systems Management Structure: Reports directly to the Lead Equipment Manager Works closely with the Golf Course Superintendent Green Committee: 9 members, 4–5 meetings per season Compensation & Benefits: Salary: $80,000 annually Bonus potential Health, Dental & Vision Insurance 401(k) PTO / Vacation Short-Term & Long-Term Disability Continued Education Local & National Dues Uniforms Free Meals Golfing Privileges About Us: Biltmore Forest Country Club is a private club located in Asheville, North Carolina, delivering exceptional course conditions and member experience.
