About the Role
## About TPC Deere Run
TPC Deere Run is a championship par-71, 7,256-yard golf course open to the public in the Quad Cities region of Silvis, Illinois, just over two hours from Chicago. Since 2000, it has been home to the PGA TOUR's annual John Deere Classic and was featured as one of America's 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses by Golf Digest, plus ranked fifth in Illinois by Golf. Week Magazine.
## The Role
We're looking for someone to join our grounds maintenance team for seasonal work. You'll be responsible for operating equipment and performing the specific tasks needed to keep our championship golf course in top condition. This is a hands-on position where you'll work shifts as necessary based on business levels, with shifts determined to meet course maintenance needs.
## What You'll Do
Your day-to-day work will include maintaining detailed logs for equipment operation, maintenance, and gas usage. You'll keep our maintenance facility clean, organized, and safe, and clean all machinery after each use. Inspecting machines and reporting any deficiencies to the Equipment Technician is essential to keeping operations running smoothly.
You'll perform routine golf course maintenance activities under the direction of our Director of Golf Course Maintenance Operations or one of our Assistant Golf Course Superintendents. Tasks include line trimming trees, shrubs, and posts; edging cart paths, sprinkler heads, and bunkers; ball mark repair and divot filling; sod laying; utility vehicle operations; blower work; hand raking bunkers; walk top dress equipment operation; backhoe operation; and miscellaneous hand tool work. You'll also handle special projects as assigned.
Safety is paramount—you'll be required to wear personal protective clothing and use protective equipment to comply with all established safety standards. Before performing any task, you'll receive thorough training on procedures and will follow the guidelines in our Golf Course Maintenance Operations Manual.
## What We're Looking For
You'll need a high school diploma or equivalent education and the ability to understand and follow directions. Importantly, you must be comfortable operating golf course machinery and be able to handle the physical demands of the work.
This position is very active and requires the ability to lift, pull, or push up to or over 50 pounds, as well as move and handle items with awkward weights. You'll be exposed to a variety of outdoor weather conditions, so physical stamina and weather adaptability are important. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, color vision, distance and peripheral vision, with the ability to adjust focus.
## Pay & Benefits
This position pays $15 to $17 per hour. Beyond base pay, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage with a health savings account with employer contribution. You'll have access to life and disability insurance, a 401(k) with employer match and contribution, pet insurance, and an employee assistance program. We provide paid time off and paid holidays, complimentary employee meals, access to PGA TOUR golf tournaments, tuition assistance, and playing privileges with employee discounts.
