GOLF+ is building the leading platform for off-course golf. What began as the premier VR golf experience is now evolving into a multi-platform ecosystem spanning VR, simulator golf, and flatscreen experiences, serving millions of golfers worldwide. Since our launch in 2020, we have had over 2 million downloads and over 4 billion shots hit in-game. We are the official VR partner of the PGA TOUR, following investment from strategic partners including Ben Crenshaw, Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Tom Brady, Steph Curry, and Mike Trout.\n\nThe Opportunity We are looking for a highly skilled Environment Artist to help build beautiful, believable, and performant golf courses for GOLF+. This role is focused on creating visually striking environments while shaping the courses themselves. You will contribute to both real-world-inspired courses and entirely original creations—helping shape layouts, visual identity, and atmosphere from the ground up. You will work directly with the Art Director and Course Lead to define the look, feel, and composition of each course, combining strong artistic execution with thoughtful design sensibility. This is a unique opportunity to help define the visuals for next-generation golf environments across multiple platforms.
Responsibilities
Environment Art & World Building Create high-quality, large-scale outdoor environmentsSculpt terrain, define construction and layout, and establish the visual identity of each courseAuthor and place foliage (grass, trees, plants) to build dense, believable ecosystemsCollaborate with technical artists to help shape and refine best-in-class course creation tools and workflowsCourse Creation & Design Translate both real-world reference and original ideas into compelling playable spacesDesign and build original golf course environments from concept through final polishContribute to course layout, flow, and overall player experienceAsset Creation & Integration Create and optimize high-end 3D assets using Maya, Substance, and SpeedTreeAssemble, light, and polish environments in UnityEnsure assets meet performance and memory budgets across platformsRequirements
4+ years of experience as an Environment Artist or similar role in gamesExpertise in 3D modeling, texturing, and world buildingStrong foundational art skills, eye for scene layout, and visual structureDemonstrated experience building realistic outdoor environments and propsStrong eye for natural detail, scale, and material definitionExperience creating foliage and working with vegetation systemsCollaborative team member who embraces feedback and iterates effectivelyExperience building assets optimized for both mobile and high-end PCProficiency in Maya, Blender, or similar DCC toolsSubstance Painter/DesignerExperience working in real-time engines (Unity experience is a strong plus)Unity Terrain and procedural terrain generators (Gaea, World Machine, True Terrain)SpeedTreeNice-to-haves
