About the Role
Overview
Skaneateles Country Club is seeking an experienced, hands-on Facilities Manager to direct the daily maintenance, safety, and operational readiness of the clubhouse and surrounding grounds.
The Facilities Manager will oversee maintenance and repairs of electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), carpentry, painting, and other building systems. including capital improvement projects.
Please note: This position does not oversee or maintain the golf course. Golf course maintenance is managed separately by the Golf Course Superintendent, with whom the Facilities Manager will collaborate on shared infrastructure and club-wide projects.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Facility Operations & Maintenance
Direct day-to-day maintenance and repair of the clubhouse, dining and event space, and all other non-golf-course buildings and grounds.
Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for all building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, kitchen equipment, elevators, and life-safety systems.
Conduct regular facility inspections to identify and address maintenance, safety, appearance, and cleanliness issues before they impact member experience.
Ensure facilities are event-ready at all times, coordinating as needed with the food & beverage, team.
Respond promptly to urgent maintenance issues and maintain an on-call protocol for after-hours emergencies.
Staff Leadership
Hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate facilities maintenance and custodial staff.
Foster a service-oriented culture that reflects the club's hospitality standards, ensuring staff interact professionally and courteously with members and guests.
Ensure staff are trained on safety procedures, equipment operation, and applicable regulations.
Vendor & Contract Management
Solicit bids, negotiate, and manage contracts with outside vendors and service providers (e.g., landscaping, pest control, elevator service, fire protection, waste removal, specialty trades).
Monitor vendor performance and hold contractors accountable to scope, quality, budget, and schedule.
Safety, Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local codes and regulations, including OSHA, ADA, health department, fire, and building codes.
Maintain all required permits, licenses, inspections, and documentation.
Administer the club's safety program, including emergency preparedness plans, incident reporting, and staff safety training.
Partner with club leadership and insurers on risk management and loss prevention.
Budgeting & Capital Improvements
Develop and manage the annual facilities operating budget, including labor, supplies, utilities, and contracted services.
Plan, budget, and oversee capital improvement and renovation projects from scoping through completion, coordinating with architects, engineers, contractors, and club committees as needed.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activity, asset condition, equipment life cycles, and project costs to inform long-range capital planning.
QualificationsRequired
5+ years of progressive facilities management experience, including supervisory responsibility, preferably in a country club, resort, hotel, or comparable hospitality environment.
Strong working knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical) and general construction and repair practices.
Demonstrated experience managing budgets, vendor contracts, and capital projects.
Knowledge of OSHA, ADA, and applicable building, fire, and health codes.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with a member-service mindset.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as club events require, and to respond to after-hours emergencies.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Physical Requirements
Ability to walk, stand, climb ladders and stairs, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Comfortable working around mechanical equipment, chemicals (with proper PPE), and elevated spaces.
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Pay: $85,000.00 per year
