Overview
Cascade Hills Country Club, one of West Michigan’s premier private clubs, is seeking a strategic and hands-on Controller to join our leadership team. Reporting directly to the General Manager/COO, the Controller will play a critical role in safeguarding the Club’s financial health while supporting informed decision-making across all areas of operations. This position offers an exceptional opportunity for a finance professional who combines technical accounting expertise with a service-oriented mindset, strong business acumen, and a passion for contributing to an organization dedicated to delivering extraordinary member experiences. The successful candidate will oversee all accounting and financial reporting functions, strengthen internal controls, and serve as a trusted advisor to Club leadership, the Finance Committee, and the Board of Directors.
Responsibilities
Planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions
Provides information to the General Manager, Department Heads and various Club committees on the financial condition of the club
Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements
Coordinating activities of external auditors
Maintains and processes the employee benefits including 401k, 401K match, Health, Dental and Life Insurance programs.
Manages bank deposits, cash transactions and cash banks in various areas of the Club.
Manages and updates the club accounting software as a joint responsibility with the Business Manager
Assists the Business Manager in directing the activities and job responsibilities of all office employees.
Assist in the organization of the separation of duties according to GAAP.
Assists in the Capital and Operational budgeting process.
Track, notify and follow up with members having delinquent accounts.
Oversees the monthly billing process
Attends and records minutes at monthly Board meetings.
The Controller’s responsibilities are inclusive but not limited to the above list.
Assists Members with questions on their monthly billing.
Qualifications
BA/BS in Accounting or Finance
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Controller, Accounting Manager or Assistant Controller preferred
Experience with Jonas software and Microsoft Office
Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired
Demonstrated knowledge of month end closings.
Excellent organizational and leadership skills
Good analytical/critical thinking
Adeptness in Budget Processes
Pay: $85,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
