About the Role
## Key Role Overview
The Head Golf Professional is responsible for promoting the game of golf and creating an exceptional experience for members and guests by overseeing golf shop operations, delivering high-quality instruction, and driving golf-related revenue and programming. This leadership role focuses on member engagement, staff management, event coordination, and developing revenue strategies to enhance the club's golf offerings and member satisfaction.
## What are the Key Responsibilities?
- Deliver efficient and friendly customer service across all areas of the pro-shop, ensuring a welcoming and professional experience for members and guests.
- Provide high-quality golf instruction to members and guests in accordance with Invited and PGA/LPGA standards.
- Develop and promote a variety of golf clinics, private lessons, and programs for adults, juniors, and seniors.
- Actively promote the game of golf and the club by maintaining a high standard of professionalism, service, and engagement.
- Build strong relationships with members by leading or participating in committees, hosting clinics for various groups, offering personalized lessons, and playing rounds with members/guests.
- Create and manage an annual golf calendar outlining activities and events designed to enhance the member experience.
- Establish and achieve sales and instruction goals, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Develop, implement, and oversee golf revenue strategies, marketing initiatives, and net revenue plans aligned with budgeting guidelines.
- Supervise outside golf operations including marshals, starters, and golf shop attendants to ensure staff performance aligns with procedures and policies.
- Lead and oversee golf shop operations by training, motivating, and conducting regular staff meetings.
- Manage recruiting, hiring, performance evaluations, and development of golf operations staff.
- Plan, promote, and execute tournaments and special golf events coordinating across club operations.
- Oversee event promotion, scheduling, execution, and post-event wrap-up.
- Ensure staff are properly trained and consistently follow club guidelines and procedures, including closing functions.
## What are the Required Qualifications?
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in golf operations and customer service focused on member experience.
- PGA or LPGA Professional Certification (mandatory).
## What are the Preferred Qualifications?
- A college degree in a related field.
- Proven experience with direct financial management and budget responsibilities.
- Proven ability to handle confidential company information and sensitive employee matters with discretion.
- Commitment to upholding high ethical work standards.
