The Claiborne High School golf coach is primarily responsible for the instruction, supervision, and spiritual or character development of student-athletes. Most positions in the state require compliance with TSSAA (Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association) regulations and often involve after-school hours for practices and matches.
Core Responsibilities
Skill Development : Instruction on technical fundamentals including grip, stance, swing mechanics, putting, and chipping. Team Management : Developing practice plans, managing competition schedules, and organizing team travel to matches and tournaments. Rules & Etiquette : Teaching and enforcing official golf rules, scoring procedures, and course etiquette. Administrative Duties : Ensuring athlete eligibility, maintaining equipment inventories, and managing program budgets. Mentorship : Modeling sportsmanship and personal conduct, while monitoring student-athletes' academic performance
Requirements & Qualifications
TSSAA Compliance : Must complete required TSSAA coaching courses and meet all eligibility standards. Certifications : CPR and First Aid certifications are standard requirements. Education : While a Bachelor's degree is often preferred, a high school diploma or GED is the minimum requirement for many districts. Experience : Preference is typically given to candidates with previous high school or collegiate playing or coaching experience. Background Clearances : Candidates must pass a standard background check and drug testing as per school district policies.
