About the Role
The Facilities Manager is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, safety, and appearance of all club facilities and grounds. In a smaller club environment, this is a hands-on leadership role that combines planning, oversight, and direct involvement in maintenance activities.The Facilities Manager ensures that the clubhouse, grounds, and infrastructure consistently meet the club’s standards while supporting an exceptional member and guest experience. This position works closely with the Club Manager and department heads and serves as a visible, approachable presence throughout the property.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Facilities & Maintenance Operations
Perform and oversee routine maintenance and repairs of all club facilities, including clubhouse, golf shop, tennis pavilion, cart barn, on course convenience stations, paddle house and grounds maintenance facilities as needed.Maintain building systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical and lightingEstablish and carry out preventive maintenance schedules to reduce downtime and unexpected repairs, coordinate preferred contractors as needed.Perform furniture, fixture and equipment maintenance and repairs.Ensure facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained on a daily basisGrounds & Exterior Oversight
Oversee exterior building appearance, parking areas, walkways, lighting, and common areasCoordinate with landscaping or grounds staff or vendors to ensure exterior areas reflect club standardsSet up and secure seasonal use areas as needed.Address weather-related issues such as snow removal, storm cleanup, or heat-related facility needsVendor & Contractor Coordination
Coordinate and supervise outside vendors for preventive maintenance and specialized repairs and servicesObtain quotes, schedule work, and monitor vendor performance with manager approval of projectServe as the primary point of contact for contractors working on club propertyBudgeting & Expense Control
Assist in preparing and managing the facilities operating budgetTrack expenses and recommend cost-effective solutionsBalance fiscal responsibility with maintaining high-quality facilitiesSafety, Compliance & Risk Management
Conduct regular safety inspections and promptly address hazardsEnsure compliance with applicable building codes, fire safety regulations, and OSHA standardsMaintain basic emergency response procedures and assist with drills as neededStaff Leadership & Scheduling
Lead a small maintenance or facilities team (or serve as the primary facilities resource)Assign work, set priorities, and provide hands-on guidanceFoster a team-oriented, service-focused work environmentMember Experience & Communication
Respond promptly and professionally to facilities-related concernsCoordinate with club leadership and department heads to support events and daily operationsMaintain a visible presence throughout the club to ensure standards are consistently metQualifications
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certifications preferredMinimum of 5 years of facilities, building maintenance, or property management experienceExperience in hospitality, private clubs or similar environments preferredSupervisory experience helpful but not required for smaller teams
Knowledge & Skills
Strong working knowledge of building maintenance and repairAbility to troubleshoot common mechanical and facility issuesBasic budgeting and expense-tracking skillsStrong organizational and time-management abilitiesEffective communication and customer service skills
