About the Role
Position Overview:
The Head Mechanic is a critical leadership role responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing our extensive fleet of turf maintenance equipment. Working directly with the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents, the Head Mechanic ensures all equipment operates efficiently, safely, and consistently to support daily championship-level course conditioning. Assisting in the design of a new maintenance facility based on needs and desires.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the maintenance and repair of all turf and utility equipment, including reel and rotary mowers, tractors, topdressers, sprayers, and utility vehicles.Implement a detailed preventative maintenance program and keep accurate service and repair records. Perform precise reel and bedknife grinding to support optimal mowing quality.Monitor equipment performance in the field and assist with proper machine setup and height-of-cut verification.Train staff on safe equipment operation and daily maintenance procedures.Maintain a clean, organized, and professional maintenance facility.Collaborate with the Superintendent on equipment budgeting, capital planning, and parts inventory management.Maintain compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations, including fuel, oil, and chemical handling and storage.
