The Irrigation Technician reports directly to the golf course superintendent and assistant golf course superintendent. Responsibilities include equipment operation, irrigation repair and operation, crew supervision and inspecting golf course conditions.
Responsibilities:
Handles day to day maintenance on irrigation system, course watering, repairAssists in cultural practices: spiking top dressing, aerificationBrush, tree removal, fertilizer applicationsAswer to Foreman/Asst. Supt. small course project teams, irrigation repair, rough mowing, irrigation wateringWork every other weekend for 4 hours, including holidaysWhen need assist in course mowing greens, tees, fairways, roughMay be involved in driving tractors to preform various tasks, projects,Working knowledge of small engine operation and repair, helpful but not requiredQualifications, Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
Must possess a valid driver’s licenseAbility to operate trucks and light motorized equipment.Working knowledge of basic electricity and hydraulics related to an irrigation system, including automatic valves and controllers and various types of pumps and pumping systems.Knowledge of agronomy, turf grass science and the rules of golfAbility to work carefully and ensure co-workers are working in safetyPossess leadership qualitiesMust have willingness to learnMust be driven and possess strong work ethicMust be dependableAbility to understand and follow oral instructions
