Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and team-oriented Junior Sous Chef to join our culinary team at a private country club in the Midwest. This position supports the Executive Chef and Sous Chef in daily kitchen operations while helping deliver exceptional dining experiences for members and guests. The ideal candidate is passionate about hospitality, organized under pressure, and committed to high culinary and sanitation standards.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with daily food preparation and execution for clubhouse dining, banquets, golf outings, and special events
Supervise and support line cooks and kitchen staff during service
Ensure consistency, quality, and presentation standards are maintained
Help manage prep schedules, inventory, and product rotation
Maintain cleanliness and compliance with all health and safety regulations
Assist with menu development, seasonal specials, and banquet preparation
Monitor portion control and minimize food waste
Support ordering and receiving of food and kitchen supplies
Step into leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Sous Chef or Executive Chef
Foster a positive, professional, and team-focused kitchen environment
Qualifications
3-5 years of kitchen experience in a restaurant, resort, hotel, or club environment preferred
Culinary school training is a plus, but not required
Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation standards
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication and organizational skills
Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and club events
Positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow within the organization
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Comfortable working in hot and fast-paced kitchen environments
