Role Description
Becoming a coach is more important now than ever before. Kids and teens are facing challenges unseen by previous generations. Our chapter is looking for enthusiastic and caring individuals to serve as positive mentors and role models to kids and teens in the program. These individuals should have a desire to help kids discover what’s inside of them, guide them to strengthen it and mentor them to put it into action in everything they do.
If you enjoy golf and want to make a difference in the community - this is for you! This is a part-time/flexible, on-site position located in Columbus, OH. As a Lead Coach at First Tee - Central Ohio, you will oversee and deliver golf and life skills programs to youth participants. You will assist in developing lesson plans, lead instructional sessions, mentor participants, and ensure a welcoming and inclusive environment. Additionally, you will collaborate with Assistant Coaches and volunteers, organize events, and help maintain program equipment and materials. The role also requires fostering relationships with parents, community members, and partners to support participant development and program success.
Qualifications
• Experience coaching sports or working with youth (camp, classroom, etc.)
• Willingness to complete First Tee Coach Training Program
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Proficiency in golf instruction and familiarity with coaching strategies and techniques
• Strong ability to mentor and guide youth in building character and life skills
• Effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills for working with children, parents, and the community
• Ability to manage resources, including scheduling and maintaining equipment
• Background in youth development, education, or recreation is highly preferred
