About the Role
Deering Bay Yacht & Country Club, located in Coral Gables, FL, is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for a Full-Time Assistant Food & Beverage Manager! We are seeking a driven individual who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast-paced hospitality-focused property organization. As part of Troon, you will contribute to a global leader in golf and community management.
About Us
Deering Bay Yacht & Country Club is a premier private club on Biscayne Bay, built around exceptional service, a strong sense of community, and a team that takes pride in taking care of its members and one another. We believe a great member experience starts with a great employee experience, and we're looking for a hospitality leader who shares that belief.
The Role
The Assistant Food & Beverage Manager helps lead the club's dining, bar, and event operations, ensuring every member and guest receives warm, polished, consistent service. This is a hands-on leadership role: you'll be on the floor with your team, supervising service, coaching staff, and solving problems in the moment, while also supporting the business side of the operation through scheduling, inventory, and cost control. We're looking for someone who is naturally positive, leads by example, and builds a team that enjoys working together.
Key Responsibilities
Service & Member Experience
• Oversee daily dining room, bar, and outlet operations, including opening and closing duties, to ensure exceptional service standards.
• Build genuine relationships with members, learning their names and preferences and anticipating their needs.
• Respond to member feedback and resolve service issues promptly and gracefully.
• Support banquets, private events, and club functions from planning through execution.
Team Leadership
• Supervise, coach, and motivate front-of-house staff, including servers, bartenders, and support staff.
• Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new team members.
• Lead pre-shift meetings and ongoing training on service standards, menu knowledge, and beverage offerings.
• Foster a positive, team-oriented culture and recognize great performance.
Operations & Cost Control
• Prepare staff schedules that balance service needs with labor budgets.
• Assist with beverage ordering, inventory counts, and cost control.
• Work closely with the culinary team to ensure smooth communication between kitchen and front of house.
• Ensure compliance with health, sanitation, safety, and responsible alcohol service standards.
• Step in to manage the operation in the absence of the Food & Beverage Director.
What We're Looking For
• 2–4 years of food and beverage supervisory experience, ideally in a private club, luxury hotel, or upscale restaurant.
• A genuine passion for hospitality and a natural, approachable, positive presence with members and staff.
• Must have a natural, confident personality, with the ability to talk easily with a wide variety of people on a range of subjects.
• Proven ability to lead, train, and motivate a team.
• Solid knowledge of food, wine, spirits, and beverage service.
• An interest in wine and beverage procurement, bringing fresh ideas to the beverage program, driving sales, and creating memorable special events.
• Experience with scheduling, inventory, and POS systems.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to stay calm and composed during busy service.
• Food Manager certification (e.g., ServSafe) and responsible alcohol service certification, or willingness to obtain.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as the club calendar requires.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
What We Offer
• Salary of $50,000–$60,000, based on experience
• Comprehensive benefits package including health insurance and 401(k)
• Paid time off
• Staff meals
• Complimentary parking
• Golf privileges on Mondays
• A beautiful waterfront workplace and a supportive, team-oriented culture
