Job Summary
The Golf Tournament Manager is pivotal in organizing and executing amazing golf tournaments and events at our club. This role involves collaboration with members, guests, and staff to manage every detail, from the initial planning stages to the successful conclusion of each event. The Manager will oversee all logistical elements, including registration, event pairings, scoring, and award presentations while ensuring top-notch communication and unparalleled customer service.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage the planning and execution of various golf tournaments, including member events and charity fundraisers.
• Create detailed event timelines, covering every operational aspect from registration to staffing.
• Keep participants informed about schedules, tournament rules, and special instructions.
• Collaborate with the Head Golf Professional to design tournament formats and scoring systems.
• Act as the main point of contact for participants to address inquiries and special requests.
• Ensure high levels of satisfaction for members and guests throughout each event.
• Partner with marketing to promote tournaments through newsletters, social media channels, and promotional materials.
• Oversee post-event activities, including clean-up and inventory management.
• Conduct reviews after events to pinpoint improvement areas for future tournaments.
• Compile and distribute results and reports to participants and club leadership.
• Coordinate with external vendors for services such as catering and awards.
• Work closely with the golf operations team and club staff to guarantee successful events.
• Manage tournament budgets effectively, monitoring revenue, expenses, and fees.
• Ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices.
Additional Duties
In this dynamic environment, you will be expected to support your colleagues and take on additional tasks as directed by management. Maintain professional excellence in all interactions while following safety and operational guidelines.
About You
Required:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in event coordination in a golf or country club context.
Preferred:
• Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Event Planning, Hospitality, or a related field.
• Ability to juggle multiple events and meet deadlines effectively.
• Experience in negotiating contracts and managing vendor relations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and event management software.
Physical Requirements
This position requires frequent outdoor work in varying temperatures and conditions. Duties involve
• Walking, standing, lifting/carrying up to 100 lbs., and climbing.
Work Schedule
Flexibility in scheduling is essential, with potential for weekend and holiday availability.
