Varsity Golf Assistant Coach

Assistant Coach for Varsity Golf Westtown seeks an experienced Assistant Coach for Varsity Golf. The spring coaching season runs from February 16 through May 7, 2027. This is a part-time, afternoon position compensated with a stipend. Reporting to the Director of Athletics, Westtown coaches foster a positive, inclusive, and growth-oriented team culture that supports student-athletes' development both on and off the field of play. Westtown coaches are responsible for teaching sport-specific fundamentals and advanced skills, planning and leading organized and engaging practices, and implementing effective game strategies that promote individual growth and team success. Successful coaches serve as teachers and role models, inspiring student-athletes to pursue a high level of success while emphasizing sportsmanship, self-discipline, resilience, self-confidence, and a healthy perspective on competition and teamwork. Through their leadership, coaches cultivate pride in personal and team accomplishments and help students develop habits and values that extend beyond athletics. Duties and Responsibilities Observe and promote the rules of Westtown School, the FSL, and PAISAA Remain current with sport theories and techniques Attend all coaches' meetings Evaluate players and assist with selecting the team Create a safe, structured, and motivating environment Assist with planning and implementing engaging daily practices Be responsible for team equipment and uniforms Assist with team discipline Coordinate appropriate and regular communication with student-athletes and parents Follow school procedures regarding transportation, injuries, participation, and meals Report and follow up with the athletic trainer regarding injuries Assist with the writing of individual comments for each student-athlete Collaborate with the head coach and student manager Keep the scorebook current and available Report areas of concern immediately to the Athletic Directors: fields, transportation, facilities, opposing teams, student behavior, parent issues, etc. Qualifications Prior coaching experience required Experience working with high school-aged students Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills A positive student-centered approach to coaching Ability to work collaboratively with coaches, trainers, and other community members Ability to effectively manage and support athletes at the appropriate level Demonstrated technical, theoretical, and applied knowledge of the sport CPR and first aid certified Valid driver's license For additional information about Westtown School and to explore current career opportunities, please visit our website, westtown.edu/careers.
