ASSISTANT GOLF PROFESSIONAL JOB DESCRIPTION Supervised By: Director of Golf Classification: Full-time, Non-exempt. Hourly, $25-$28 per hour, 40 hours per week. Position Concept: As member of the Golf Operations team, the assistant professionals will work in conjunction with the Director of Golf to oversee the golf operation while working cooperatively with other departments to provide an outstanding experience for every member and guest. Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations Experience in the following skill sets: managing golf operations, interpersonal skills/customer service, golf instruction, tournament operation (golf genius experience preferred), merchandising, playing ability, knowledge of the rules of golf, and the ability to perform required role in emergency situations. Ability to come to work regularly and on time, follow directions, take criticism, get along with co-workers and supervisors, and treat co-workers, supervisors and members/guests with respect and courtesy. Specific Responsibilities - include but not limited to: Golf Operations Assist in promotion and execution of all golf activities at the club. Cooperate with Retail Manager and assist in retail operation as needed. Interpret and enforce golf rules and regulations. Interpret and enforce the club policies, rules and regulations. Help manage tee sheet and charge members for all appropriate guest and golf cart fees. Maintain a visible presence on the course during peak times of play. Assist in supervision of golf play for members and guests. Conduct oneself in a professional manner and always maintain a professional image. Tournament Operations Help develop annual tournament calendar including events for Men, Women, Couples and Juniors. Assist in organizing and conducting both member and outside golf events and related activities. This includes the use of Golf Genius to set formats and print all tournament related materials. Interact with Food & Beverage Manager, Chef and/or Catering Director about food and beverage needs for events. Assist in ensuring golf course is properly marked for events. Remain knowledgeable in the Rules of Golf and be able to use that knowledge when rules issues arise. Player Development Provide golf instruction to members. Assist in the design and execution of golf clinics for all classes of members. Play golf with members of all skill levels to generate enthusiasm for the game. Work with Retail Manager to help schedule fitting days. Assist in promoting and execution of junior camps and junior development program. Assist in planning social/golf evenings and events to promote golf and fellowship among members and guests. Licenses and Special Requirements Holds Class A Certification through the LPGA or the PGA of America. Completes all Professional Development Requirements to remain in good standing with the LPGA or the PGA of America. Physical/Mental Demands and Work Environment Sufficient stamina to tolerate hot, cold, humid and rainy outdoor weather for several consecutive hours. Able to meet and perform physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment typical of this position. Able to lift 50 pounds and perform frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping and pulling. Frequent repetitive motions. Continuous standing and walking. Problem solving. Communicating with the public. Creating written communication. The PGA Assistant Professional will assume "Bottom Line" responsibility for offering excellent service at El Niguel Country Club. Co-workers may be assigned duties, whether or not included in their job description, at any time by the Director of Golf.
