*You must be a current City of Colorado Springs (City) municipal employee who works in this department to be considered*Filling one role at Patty Jewett and one at Valley Hi Golf Courses CITY EMPLOYEES ONLY - Assistant Golf Course Superintendent (Skilled Maintenance Technician, Sr.)The City of Colorado Springs Golf Division is seeking a highly qualified, motivated, and team-oriented individual to support golf course maintenance operations. The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent assists in the management of either Patty Jewett Golf Course or Valley Hi Golf Course. This position supports the Golf Course Superintendent at the assigned facility in planning, organizing, and directing all golf course maintenance activities while helping ensure exceptional playing conditions, efficient operations, environmental stewardship, and a high-performing team culture. This position serves as a key member of the Golf Division leadership team and is expected to help develop employees, support the Superintendent, and contribute to the long-term success of the Golf Division. Work Schedule: During the golfing season Monday through Friday 5:00am – 1:30pm. 6:00am-2:30pm during the shoulder seasons and winter months. Employee will be expected to work rotating weekend shifts in addition to scheduled holidays. As a Skilled Maintenance Technician Sr, you will:Lead and supervise daily golf course maintenance operations as directed by the Golf Course Superintendent, including planning, delegating, directing, and inspecting the work of full-time and seasonal employees to ensure established standards for course conditions, safety, and productivity are achieved.Assist golf course leadership with recruiting, hiring, onboarding training, developing, and evaluating the performance of maintenance staff while setting clear expectations, holding employees accountable, and supporting professional growth.Assist in planning, coordinating, and overseeing agronomic programs including fertilizer and pesticide applications, irrigation scheduling, turf health monitoring, and cultural practices such as aerification, verticutting, topdressing, overseeding, and soil management.Assist in the management, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of golf course infrastructure, including irrigation systems, drainage systems, equipment, and other course assets to promote efficient and sustainable operations.Collaborate and communicate regularly with golf operations staff, including the golf shop, player services, and facility management teams, to coordinate maintenance activities, special events, course conditions, and customer service initiatives.Assist with budgeting, purchasing, inventory control, regulatory compliance, environmental stewardship, capital improvement projects, and long-range planning while serving as the Superintendent's designee when assigned.Other duties as assignedLearn more about this job by reviewing the class specification on the City of Colorado Springs Class Specifications page  We value a diverse range of qualifications and experiences. Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED).Five years of full-time, professional experience in a related field.Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary driver’s license not subject to restrictions.Posses and maintain a valid Colorado Department of Agriculture Qualified Supervisor (QS) pesticide applicators license in the appropriate categories for golf course or turfgrass management; or have the ability to obtain the required license within six months of hire.The following qualifications are not required, but they are considered desirable.
