About the Role
A prestigious golf club known for its immaculate fairways and challenging greens is seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Golf Course Superintendent to oversee the meticulous maintenance and development of its championship-level course. This role requires a deep understanding of turfgrass science, agronomy, irrigation systems, and pest management, combined with strong leadership and operational management skills. You will be responsible for leading a dedicated groundskeeping team, managing the annual budget, and implementing innovative strategies to ensure the course remains in pristine condition year-round, enhancing the playing experience for members and guests. Responsibilities: Develop and execute comprehensive agronomic plans for turfgrass maintenance, including mowing, fertilization, aeration, and topdressing programs. Supervise, train, and motivate a team of groundskeepers, horticulturalists, and equipment operators, fostering a culture of excellence and safety. Manage the course's irrigation system, ensuring efficient water usage and optimal moisture levels for all playing surfaces. Implement integrated pest management (IPM) strategies to control diseases, insects, and weeds, minimizing the use of chemical treatments. Oversee the operation and maintenance of all golf course equipment, ensuring it is in safe and efficient working order. Manage the departmental budget effectively, controlling costs while maintaining high standards of course conditioning. Collaborate with the Golf Professional and Club Management on course improvements, renovations, and special events. Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and club policies. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in turfgrass science, agronomy, and golf course management techniques. Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, chemical applications, and operational expenses. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Turfgrass Management, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in golf course maintenance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or assistant superintendent role. GCSAA Class A certification is strongly preferred. In-depth knowledge of cool-season and warm-season turfgrass species, soil science, and drainage principles. Proficiency with irrigation control systems (e.g., Toro, Rain Bird) and water conservation techniques. Strong understanding of pest and disease identification and management, with experience in IPM. Proven leadership abilities with experience managing and developing a team. Excellent budgeting, planning, and organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with course management software. Valid driver's license and a strong commitment to workplace safety. Passion for golf and dedication to achieving championship-level course conditions.
