About the position
The Assistant Mechanic plays a key role in maintaining and repairing all golf course maintenance equipment used at Cassique and River Course golf courses at Kiawah Island Club. This position supports the delivery of exceptional playing conditions by ensuring all machinery operates at peak performance across two distinct, world-class golf environments.\n\nArmed with a \$5 million operating budget, the exclusive Kiawah Island Club needs an individual who is organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated and has verifiable experience leading golf course maintenance crews. The River Course provides a challenging and inspiring 7,039-yard test. Eight holes play along the Kiawah River and Bass Pond, with the other fairways and greens along marsh savannas, ponds, and oak-filled maritime forests. The River Course site, which extends a mile or so along the Kiawah River, was the location of the first English settlement on the Island in the 18th century. In 1999, it was fully certified as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary.\n\nHost of the prestigious 2023 US Amateur Four-Ball Championship, Kiawah Island Club utilize Toro LYNX irrigation software and controllers in addition to Toro GPS sprayers along with other top-of-the-line equipment.
Responsibilities
Assist in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a full fleet of golf course equipment, including reel and rotary mowers, tractors, sprayers, and utility vehiclesPerform preventative maintenance such as oil changes, grinding and sharpening reels/bedknives, and equipment calibrationSet up and fine-tune mowing equipment to meet precise course specifications for both Cassique and River CourseMaintain detailed service and repair records for all equipmentSupport daily equipment readiness to ensure minimal disruption to course operationsAssist in parts inventory management and ordering suppliesRespond to mechanical issues quickly to minimize equipment downtimeMaintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environmentFollow all safety standards and environmental regulations
