About the Role
<p><b><strong>The WildeWood Club – Columbia, South Carolina</strong></b></p><p>The Head Golf Professional is responsible for leading all aspects of the golf operation while delivering an exceptional experience for members and guests. This role provides strategic leadership for golf programming, daily operations, staff development, instruction, tournaments, merchandising, and member engagement. Working closely with the General Manager and Golf Course Superintendent, the Head Golf Professional ensures the golf operation reflects the club's commitment to outstanding service, quality course conditions, and a welcoming community atmosphere.</p><p><br /></p><h3>Key Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Provide leadership and oversight for all daily golf operations, including the golf shop, practice facilities, tee sheet management, and outside services.</li><li>Deliver exceptional member and guest service by fostering a professional, friendly, and hospitality-focused environment.</li><li>Plan, organize, and execute club tournaments, member events, leagues, junior golf programs, and instructional clinics.</li><li>Recruit, train, schedule, mentor, and evaluate golf operations staff while promoting a culture of teamwork, accountability, and service excellence.</li><li>Oversee golf shop merchandising, inventory management, retail sales, and financial performance of the golf operation.</li><li>Provide individual and group golf instruction to members and guests while promoting player development for golfers of all skill levels.</li><li>Collaborate with the Golf Course Superintendent to ensure optimal playing conditions, course setup, pace of play, and tournament preparation.</li><li>Enforce club policies, golf etiquette, and the Rules of Golf while maintaining a positive member experience.</li><li>Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and operational planning to achieve departmental goals and financial objectives.</li><li>Support membership growth and retention by creating engaging golf programs and building strong relationships with members.</li><li>Represent The WildeWood Club professionally within the local golf community and uphold the standards of the PGA of America.</li></ul><p><br /></p><h3>Desired Leadership Qualities</h3><ul><li>Strong leadership and team-building skills.</li><li>Exceptional customer service and communication abilities.</li><li>Operational and financial management experience.</li><li>Passion for teaching and growing the game of golf.</li><li>Ability to build lasting relationships with members and guests.</li><li>Professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to continuous improvement.</li></ul><p><br /></p><p>The Head Golf Professional plays a vital role in creating a first-class golf experience that enhances member satisfaction, supports club growth, and reinforces The WildeWood Club's reputation as one of Columbia's premier private clubs.</p>
