About the Role
About the position
The Director of Golf is a key member of the golf operations team at Compass Pointe Golf Courses and is directly responsible for managing all golf operations activities at the facility. Compass is a 36-hole facility with approximately 77,000 annual rounds. This includes five course run leagues as well as over 11,000 outing rounds.
Responsibilities
• Plans, promotes and directs all golf activities including management responsibilities on a daily basis
• Develops, implement and review programming for facility. This includes but not limited to in-house events, couple’s night, nine and wine, league events, pass holder events, golf specials and demo days
• Work closing with the golf operations staff to ensure Troon and Compass Pointe standards are being followed
• Manage the tee sheet on a daily basis to ensure maximum utilization
• Review programming, pricing and conditions for competitors in the market
• Maintains an attractive and orderly appearance in the golf shop
• Purchasing merchandise for the golf shop in accordance with Troon standards
• Manage the six weekly leagues played at the facility. Includes creating schedules, updating results, distributing prizes and sending weekly email
• Manage the outing/event process after it is sold. This includes but not limited to meeting with coordinators, updating worksheets, meetings with team members, ordering merchandise, invoicing clients, updating tee sheet and ensuring payment is received.
• Assist in updating and posting the courses social media pages
• Interprets and imposes club policies, rules and regulations
• Hire, trains, and supervises golf shop staff and outside services staff
• Conducts staff meetings with pro shop staff and outside services staff to ensure facility goals, objectives and standards are being met
• Creates annual budget plan for golf operations
• Manages inventory of merchandise in the pro shop and the outside service equipment
• Directs and promotes golf operation safety program
• Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
• Must have 3-5 years golf industry experience
• Must have experience in golf operations management and a demonstrated ability to run a professional, efficient, high quality, service-oriented golf operation
• Must have knowledge of budgeting and expense management
• Experience conducting golf outings/events
• Experience developing, running and managing leagues
• Must have strong computer skills- Word, Excel, POS and Tee Sheet Management
• Must have skill to exercise good independent judgment in assessing situations and making decisions
• Must have the ability to hire and develop a motivated golf staff
• Must be highly organized, efficient and detail-oriented
• Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Must have strong customer/guest skills
• Must have solid supervisory and leadership skills
Nice-to-haves
• PGA Membership or PGA registered apprentice in good standing is preferred
• College Degree (PGM) preferred
