Golf Course Mechanic II - Arrowhead Golf Club - Full-time This position assists the Golf Course Mechanic with the implementation of the golf course’s comprehensive preventive maintenance program. Responsibilities include repair of equipment, maintaining records of parts and labor, and placing orders for parts and supplies needed for equipment or service. The assistant mechanic is responsible for maintaining a clean service area and maintenance building. Essential Functions Self‑motivated to carry out assigned duties with little or no direct supervision. Purchase, maintain, and oversee manual and computer inventory of supplies, equipment, and records. Maintain and operate accurate equipment log. Assist with maintenance, inspection, repair, and renovation of vehicles, mowers, and other ground equipment. Assist with training and input into training procedures for all golf course equipment. Perform arc, acetylene, and MIG welding procedures. Identify quality of cut between dull blades, scalping, stragglers, and tire tracks. Adjust green’s mowers HOC daily. Adjust tee mowers HOC after mowing. Adjust fairway mowers HOC after and during mowing. Assist with reel & bed knife grinding. Assist with relief grinding, back lapping, HOC, BHOC, and attitude of the bed knife. Assist with establishment, maintenance, and implementation of a preventive maintenance schedule for all vehicles and equipment and report damage and abuse. Assist with distribution and recycling of used oil, solvents, hazardous material and other waste products generated on the job. Assist with mowing and/or snow removal. Assist with other trade related projects including plumbing, irrigation, etc. Assist in the maintenance of golf carts. Wear personal protective equipment for job function when needed. Maintain timely two‑way verbal and written communication with supervisors and operators about recurring mechanical problems and concerns. Contribute to a feedback rich environment. Provide a high quality of customer service in a professional manner to the internal customer that will facilitate team building and exceptional customer service to the external customer. Position Salary Range Min Mid Max – $22.26 $27.82 $33.39 The Qualifications To be considered for this position, we are looking for: Minimum of a high school graduate or GED plus at least two (2) years’ experience in auto repair or maintenance related field and/or trade school completion/certification required. Working knowledge includes light and heavy maintenance equipment and automotive apparatuses; maintaining reel‑type mowers including equipment used to sharpen reel blades and bed knives; diesel and gasoline engines and repairs; arc, acetylene, and MIG welding procedures; and use of automotive diagnostic equipment. Must be familiar with Microsoft Office Suite for email and record keeping. Must have great problem solving, analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills. Must have: valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record; and CPR/AED certified or obtain within one (1) year of employment. Equipment specific certifications are desirable. Physical and Environmental Demands Must be able to occasionally remain in a stationary position with repetitive use of hands/arms/fingers and eyes while using a computer, frequently position oneself to repair equipment, with repetitive use of hands/arms, grasping, and hand/eye coordination when working with tools; occasionally climb onto equipment, and stairs/ladder, work with vibrating equipment and tools, move equipment, tools, etc. weighing up to 50 lbs. and items over 50 lbs. with assistance; move over uneven ground. Must be able to drive a vehicle and operate all golf maintenance equipment and tools. Must be able to work long hours during peak season. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to chemicals, fumes, or airborne particles; potential toxic items; grease and oil; moving mechanical parts; and occasional vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme weather conditions and insects; loud noise levels of running equipment; and slippery surfaces. Hours Hours may vary based on the needs of the facility.
