Glen View Club is searching for an experienced candidate with a successful track record of accomplishment, leadership, and high-level communications management experience in a busy multi-sports or event environment. The candidate will be an integral and critical part of the senior leadership team at our historic Private Members' Club, which is renowned for its first-class membership, facilities, quality work environment, and focus on never ending approach to continuous improvement for its membership and employees. Founded in 1897, Glen View Club is one of the nation's oldest country clubs, steeped in history and known for its role in shaping golf in the United States. Nestled in the charming Village of Golf, Illinois, the Club offers a unique retreat just minutes from downtown Chicago, featuring a rich heritage, a vibrant membership, and a commitment to excellence in service and amenities. At the heart of Glen View Club is its celebrated golf course, originally designed by Richard Leslie in 1897 and later refined by the legendary Donald Ross and William S. Flynn. The course is renowned for its layout, blending natural beauty with strategic challenges, and has played host to significant golf events, including the U.S. Open, the U.S. Amateur, the inaugural Western Open and Western Amateur Championships. The Club will host the Western Am again in 2030. Beyond golf, Glen View Club offers a wide range of amenities to cater to its members' diverse interests. The Club features a state-of-the-art racquet sports facilities with tennis, paddle, and pickleball, along with skeet shooting, on-site accommodation, and skating to ensure year-round opportunities for recreation and social engagement. Our beautiful 'Tudor Style' clubhouse serves as the social hub, offering an elegant yet welcoming atmosphere for private dining, special events, and popular long-standing member gatherings. Position Summary:
The Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for overseeing all internal and external Club communications and brand management. They will lead the development and execution of the Club's annual communications plan, brand identity, print and digital assets, and continually seek new and innovative ways to reach and engage members and team members through various communications channels. General Duties & Responsibilities:
Live our values and foster a positive work environment. Build strong relationships with fellow managers and members to support collaboration, communication, and problem-solving across the Club. Provide leadership to the Communications Department. Create, develop, and implement an annual marketing and communications plan for our membership, coordinating with several HODs, Executives, Board, and Committees. Manage department workflow and production schedule to meet deadlines; coordinate with department leaders to meet needs. Oversee the design, editing, production, and distribution of all internal and occasional external Club communications (Newsletters, menus, posters, events etc.). Develop and manage brand standards, including a shared Style Guide; maintain consistent messaging to Glen View Club's standards across all mediums. Stay abreast of new and innovative communication strategies; utilize data to improve reach, effectiveness, and engagement of communications. Work as an in-house designer for Club print and digital marketing and communications materials, including logos, menus, newsletters, recruitment materials, training guides, presentation templates, informational sheets and booklets, email templates, survey templates, and posters/signage. Keep up-to-date on current Club systems. Coordinate and provide the principal drive for updates and development of our website and mobile app. Create, edit, and proof executive communications. Troubleshoot member issues with club communications and technology. Develop our LinkedIn profile to accurately work only as an employee branding tool, driving an employee branding strategy and content development. Establish metrics to measure the effectiveness and reach of club communications; conduct an annual assessment of current communications strategies and mediums. Continually seek and evaluate opportunities to improve communication and engagement, leveraging new technology and expanding digital content. Develop and manage an annual marketing and communications budget. Manage the work of the Communications Manager; coach, train, and develop any Communications Team members to help meet their personal and professional goals. Engage as a thought partner with the GM/COO and AGM or SLT on strategic projects. Technical Skill Requirements:
5+ years of related and demonstrable experience Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously Good graphic design skills: understanding of graphic platforms preferred Adobe (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, Express) Working knowledge of Canva and Flipbook Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, CRM Software, and digital newsletters or e-zines Basic video and photography experience Outstanding written communication skills, proofreading, and copywriting ability Superior project and time management skills; excellent attention to detail. Must be technologically proficient with website admin and app content management Salary, Benefits, and Perks:
