Arizona Country Club is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Racquet Sports to serve as the Director of Racquet Sports' trusted second-in-command – leading day-to-day Tennis operations on our newly reimagined courts and supervising a talented team of Tennis Professionals.

Arizona Country Club is in the final stretch of a full tennis and pickleball court replacement, with construction underway now through September 2026. The new courts feature post-tension concrete foundations for a superior playing surface, fast-draining engineered design that gets players back on court quickly after rain, and dedicated access points for each court to reduce traffic between neighboring games. Members will also enjoy new covered viewing areas, upgraded shade structures, and an extended patio overlooking the action. These new facilities will elevate the playing experience while providing exciting opportunities to expand programming, member events, instruction, leagues, and tournaments for years to come.
At the same time, the Club currently completing a $12 million transformation of its clubhouse, featuring beautifully redesigned dining venues, luxurious locker rooms, and a state-of-the-art wellness center complete with red light therapy, sauna, hot and cold plunge pools, and upgraded fitness amenities, all designed to elevate the member experience.

As Assistant Director of Racquet Sports, you'll lead Adult Tennis programming and our WITL program on courts built for a premier private club experience, while providing day-to-day supervision, scheduling, and mentorship for our team of Tennis Professionals. You'll work closely with the Director of Racquet Sports and represent Tennis operations in the Director's absence.

Position Summary
As Assistant Director of Racquet Sports, you'll help lead one of Arizona's most exciting racquet sports programs into its next era. You'll lead Adult Tennis programming and our Women's Interclub Tennis League (WITL) on our brand-new courts, help oversee Junior Tennis in partnership with the Director, and provide day-to-day supervision, scheduling, and mentorship for our team of Tennis Professionals.
This is a trusted second-in-command role – partnering closely with the Director of Racquet Sports to deliver one cohesive Tennis operation and the highest standards of instruction, service, and member experience on some of the finest courts in Arizona.
Essential Responsibilities
Member Experience
• Build strong member relationships and connect new and existing players to appropriate clinics, teams, partners, and competitive opportunities.
• Identify when players or groups are approaching the ceiling of current programming and bring next-level opportunities to the Director.
• Bring ideas and member feedback forward to the Director and help shape adjustments to programs that aren't succeeding.
Programming & Instruction
• Lead and continually improve Adult Tennis programming and the overall adult player experience, in conjunction with the Director.
• Create and execute clinics, leagues, competitive opportunities, mixers, socials, and special events across a range of levels and interests.
• Lead ACC's WITL program overall, including team practices, doubles partnerships, match preparation, lineup development with captains, and season-long player evaluation.
• Oversee Junior Tennis programming and player-development pathways, in conjunction with the Director and the Tennis Professionals who deliver junior instruction.
• Deliver private, semi-private, and group instruction and maintain teaching availability that supports member demand and program needs.
Team Leadership
• Supervise, schedule, and mentor Tennis Professionals day to day, in conjunction with the Director.
• Partner closely with the Tennis Professionals to coordinate day-to-day scheduling, staffing, and curriculum execution.
• Provide input and recommendations on hiring, staffing needs, and performance of Tennis Professionals.
• Represent day-to-day Tennis operations in the Director's absence.
Operations
• Coordinate seasonal scheduling, court-use assignments, and equipment or weather-related adjustments for Tennis Professionals, in conjunction with the Director.
• Support the execution and staffing of the department's signature events, club tournaments, member-guests, and championships.
• Collaborate with Pickleball and Racquet Services on shared court use, staffing, and member-experience needs.
• Attend and actively support all tennis and pickleball tournaments and special events to help ensure a consistent, high-quality member experience.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience preferred.
• Significant successful experience in tennis instruction, adult programming, competitive doubles, and player development required.
• Prior experience leading, scheduling, or supervising other coaches required.
• Private-club or high-level hospitality experience preferred.
• Professional certification through a recognized tennis organization preferred.
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification, and applicable SafeSport/background clearance, required or must be obtained promptly after hire.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
• Exceptional, engaging instruction and adult-team leadership with strong technical knowledge and competitive doubles experience.
• Decisive people management, capable of supervising, scheduling, and developing a team of Tennis Professionals.
• A builder's mindset – organized, dependable, and genuinely invested in member relationships and retention.
• Comfort representing Tennis in department-level planning with the Director.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and special events as needed.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This position requires active participation in tennis instruction and daily operations.
The Assistant Director must be able to:
• Stand and move for extended periods while teaching and participating in tennis activities.
• Demonstrate tennis technique, including running, feeding balls, swinging, stooping, bending, and balancing.
• Lift and carry teaching and event equipment.
• Work outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
• Communicate effectively with members, guests, and staff.
