Golf Course Mechanic

Coffeetree Country Club is a new private club committed to exceptional golf course conditions and a professional, team-first culture. We are seeking a Golf Course Equipment Manager to join our founding Agronomy leadership team and establish a first-class equipment-management operation. This is a distinctive opportunity for an experienced turf-equipment professional to build the shop’s systems, standards, organization, and culture from the ground up. The Equipment Manager will participate in the commissioning and setup of a new and expanding fleet, establish comprehensive preventive-maintenance and recordkeeping programs, and help ensure that Coffeetree’s equipment operation is positioned to support the golf course through grow-in, opening, and long-term operations. The Golf Course Equipment Manager is responsible for the reliability, safety, performance, and lifecycle management of the Agronomy equipment fleet. This is a hands-on leadership position for a professional who takes pride in precision, quality of cut, proactive maintenance, shop organization, clear communication, and the development of equipment operators. Key Responsibilities - Partner with the Director of Agronomy to establish and maintain equipment-management systems, shop standards, preventive-maintenance schedules, and fleet-readiness procedures. - Inspect, commission, maintain, diagnose, and repair the club’s fleet, including reel and rotary mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, sprayers, aeration equipment, two-cycle equipment, and battery-electric or autonomous equipment. - Maintain exceptional quality-of-cut standards through reel and bedknife grinding, cutting-unit setup, mower adjustment, and regular performance inspections. - Diagnose and repair gasoline and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, drivetrains, electrical and electronic controls, charging systems, and related components. - Perform welding, light fabrication, equipment modification, and other specialized repairs as needed. - Manage daily shop operations, including organization, cleanliness, safety, parts and fluid inventories, purchasing, warranties, vendor relationships, and outside repairs. - Maintain accurate digital records of inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, equipment hours, parts, fuel usage, warranties, and operating costs. - Assist with repair budgets, equipment replacement recommendations, fleet planning, and the maintenance and calibration of application equipment. - Train Agronomy employees in safe equipment operation, inspection, cleaning, fueling or charging, and daily care. - Communicate equipment availability, repair priorities, and anticipated downtime to Agronomy leadership, responding promptly to urgent operational needs. - Three or more years of experience maintaining golf course turf equipment or a comparable commercial, agricultural, municipal, or sports-turf fleet. - Demonstrated proficiency in reel and bedknife grinding, cutting-unit setup, mower adjustment, and quality-of-cut troubleshooting. - Strong knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, drivetrains, electrical systems, and electronic controls. - Ability to interpret technical schematics and use diagnostic equipment, software, and manufacturer service information. - Experience managing preventive maintenance, repair records, parts inventories, purchasing, vendors, and operating expenses. - Experience with battery-electric or autonomous equipment, welding, fabrication, or machining preferred. - Technical education, manufacturer training, GCSAA credentials, or related certification preferred; equivalent practical experience will be considered. - Strong organizational, communication, training, and problem-solving skills. - Understanding of how equipment setup and performance affect turf health, playing conditions, and course presentation. - Valid driver’s license and ability to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and emergency hours as operations require. - Ability to perform the physical duties of the position and work both indoors and outdoors in varying conditions, with or without reasonable accommodation.
